I have been a patient of Anita Steephen, MD for over 10 years. She is soft spoken and has a gentle, calming bedside manner. Her office is well organized and tends to run on time with appointments. Several family members also use her as their Gastrointestinal specialist and have also been pleased with the care they received.

I have been a patient of Dr. Steephen's for 14yrs due to Crohn's Disease. She is a wonderful doctor who truly does care about her patients. She is very knowledgeable about her field of expertise and will do anything she can to make her patients feel better. Her bedside manner is wonderful and if it wasn't for her I would be one very ill person. Her nurse is every bit as wonderful as Dr. Steephen is and anyone who says any different is obviously going in with a horrible attitude to start.
Dr. steephen is a very caring and professional lady. I was referred to her number of years ago and I continue to see her whenever I have any issues that would require her expertise. She genuinely cares about her patients and spends a lot of time with the patient's, never in a rush to move on to the next person without giving the one she's talking to adequate time to discuss all the issues. Relatively last "minute" appointment due errosive esophogus... Appreciate the courtesy and advice, followed by endoscopy... Bedside manner - good-to-great, shared notions of geography and interest.
I saw this doctor for nausea and vomiting. Had a upper and lower endoscopy and she found the problem which she treated. She is very direct no chit chat or warm fuzzies. She is competent and does her job. No nonsense approach.
My husband suffered a bacterial infection in his intestines. Dr. Steephen signed his release from the hospital with a course of antibiotics. When the course ran out and he showed symptoms again, it was impossible to get her on the phone. Her nurse just kept saying to make a follow up appointment and a colonoscopy appointment. Needless to say he went back to the ER in a few hours. Horrible level of care and/or concern and totally out of touch with her patients
If you get referred to this doctor, run. She is very rude and has no bedside manner at all. What kind of doctor tells their patient: "I can't run any tests to find out what is wrong with you because you have no insurance"! This is not a good doctor at all, just a moneymaker. I spent all of 5-10 minutes with her and had to pay $200 for nothing. I have been sick for two months and you would think a SPECIALIST would be able to do something for me going by my symptoms, but she did nothing.
