A Portland Hot Spot! – This place rocks! If you want a real Portland vibe! This place has wonderful service, food and architecture! You can also catch new and exciting bands.

A beautiful room, but... Way too crowded! Way too trendy! The dinners are alright but pricey (the late night happy hour is a good deal, though), and the drinks are well made and creative. It's a beautiful space, but can be dark and confusing if you're trying to eat dinner. The bar area is always packed, and the seating can be difficult (weird ottomans? two booths?). The Doug Fir basement is much better- the bands that come are interesting and the space is designed to hold an appropriate number of people.

Nothing Special I had breakfast at Doug Fir, and it was alright. It wasn't anything special, but the ambiance was nice. The service was friendly and efficient. I also have been there at night and it can get extremely crowded and uncomfortable. If you can get a seat outside during the summer, it can be pleasant, but otherwise it is like fighting to get a seat, or even to find a path to the restroom.

Overcharged and disappointed – Had family and friends visiting Sunday. We decided to grab a drink and food at Doug Fir since we were in the area. Everything went well, food was good, service was fine(except our waiter had us open the bottle of Prosecco we ordered because he said he was afraid to?). At the end we divided the bill by 6, everyone paid cash and I put my amount on my debit card. Well unfortunately they authorized my card for the entire amount, however I was presented with a receipt to sign for the amount I had sta... read more

Unlike anyplace you've ever seen! – The Doug Fir and the adjoining hotel are beyond description. While the drinks are a bit spendy and the crowd is hipster, the Fir is a great place to see a show or have a few drinks. DRINK ON THE PATIO DURING THE SUMMER!

Don't come here hungry. – We moved to Portland recently and kept seeing the Doug Fir when we drive up Burnside. It's really cute inside and out. My boyfriend and I went there on a date on a weeknight to try it. He ordered a steak which he said was good but it was really small for the pricetag. I'm vegan and I was told my only option was the expensive pasta. It had a lot of very large olives in it. Do not order this dish unless you really really like olives. When I say "like" I mean you are passionate about them and you would... read more

Great Place to Chill or Dance – Went to see a Tuesday night band and was surprised it was crowded, obvoiusly a great place to see bands and dance. "Do It Offend You Yeah?" played, great band from the UK. Went back early Friday night, got shots and sangria (sangria was too watery) and chilled on the patio. Only minus is all the smokers but there was an outside fireplace and cool crowd. Great place to go any day of the week and beautiful decor, love the wood everywhere.

This combo of slick '50s lounge and rustic mead hall draws a diverse crowd for live tunes and late-night noshes. – In Short Exposed fir beams and a winding wooden bar are illuminated by chrome light fixtures in retro-mod decor. Rough-edged rockers huddle in vinyl booths, while a swanky Eastside cohort indulges at the blond-wood counter. Downstairs, a 300-person venue conjures music hounds seven nights a week. Upstairs, a huge menu of Northwest comfort cuisine and knockout libations satiate preshow partiers and after-hours cl... read more

Nice Place for Cocktails & Happy Hour – My husband & I always go early on a weekend to unwind in the bar area & snack on the happy hour food menu (cheeseburger and artichoke & spinach dip - mmmmmm!). The atmosphere at that hour is calm - cute, kitschy log cabin decor, lots of intimate areas for small groups. There are outside tables for smokers or those who simply want to sip alfresco. The attached Jupiter Hotel lends itself to the mod, mid-century feel. We've never seen a band there or gone late at night - prolly a complete... read more
