Late it's Pretty Darn Good! – My dining partner & I wanted to go out to eat late. She gets off work at 11pm and we were hungry but too lazy to cook. After looking here on citysearch for late night spots we decided to try the Doug Fir. We got there before midnight, so we were promptly seated in the dining room. Though we were the last one's in the dining room our waitress was to the point but still pleasant. We orders the Fir Burger & Cedar Mill Plank and for dessert we split an order of bread pudding. The fries that came wit... read more
Go for the music and bottles of PBR, nothing more. – I have a love hate relationship with the Doug Fir. I LOVE that I get out of shows by 12 am, I love the artist that come through, and I love the PBR in bottles. But somehow the place just comes up short. You can?t have a tab (at least in the venue) because they haven?t ?figured it out yet?. Last time I checked all you do is write down the orders and lay the persons card on top of said paper. The staff seems to hate being there. Parking can be tricky, the air conditioner on ... read more
Great Service During Happy Hour – I am surprised by the review below. I experienced, just the opposite during a weekend happy hour trip! The service we received was great: mellow, attentive, accommodating. We were super pleased with our experience there. The bartender chick was really nice and chill, there weren't very many people there and the atmosphere was very relaxed. It really is a lot different on a Saturday at 4pm, than it is Friday night at 11pm. If you love the Doug, but the crowds get in your way, go during the ha... read more
Beyond Rude Staff – It only took me 2 minutes and a walk up to the bar to be made to feel smaller and more disrespected than I have in a very long time. The bartender clearly went out of his way to make me feel like a piece of dirt on the floor because of the type of drink I wanted to order. I couldn't believe it, I was in such disbelief. I drank down my drink as fast as I could and my friend and I ran for the door. I was so happy to read other reviews on here to see many other people feel the same about these pretentious in... read more
great venue – I can't speak to the upstairs bar but the Doug Fir is my favorite place in portland to see music
Resturant run by the obnoxious – the perfect place for trendy and pretentious people. Mediocre food and drinks, and totally obnoxious staff.
Horrible Service – Last night was the first time I went to the Doug Fir. I had heard pretty good things about it and decided to take my husband out for a late night drink on his birthday. We arrived at 11:15 pm. We walked in the front door and didn't see a hostess so we found a table in the corner and sat down. We sat there for about 7 minutes and watched two other couples get seated. A bartender would look over at us ever few minutes but never bothered to walk over to see if we had been helped. I finally went up to the bar.... read more
Best late night food in town – Great atmoshphere and delicious late night food (good cocktails too!). Try the Fir Burger or Joe's Scramble. Whenever I go, there is a bit of a wait, but its well worth it. It's nice to know you can get some great food in Portland almost any time during the day or night!
mmmmmmm... furry – After you finish stroking the fur lined walls and get past the wannabe hipsters this is actually a very fun and cool place to hang out.
