A beautiful room, but... Way too crowded! Way too trendy! The dinners are alright but pricey (the late night happy hour is a good deal, though), and the drinks are well made and creative. It's a beautiful space, but can be dark and confusing if you're trying to eat dinner. The bar area is always packed, and the seating can be difficult (weird ottomans? two booths?). The Doug Fir basement is much better- the bands that come are interesting and the space is designed to hold an appropriate number of people.
Nothing Special I had breakfast at Doug Fir, and it was alright. It wasn't anything special, but the ambiance was nice. The service was friendly and efficient. I also have been there at night and it can get extremely crowded and uncomfortable. If you can get a seat outside during the summer, it can be pleasant, but otherwise it is like fighting to get a seat, or even to find a path to the restroom.
Not terribly exciting, but promising. I wasn't too impressed with the food or the service, but the atmosphere was pleasant. Given a little time to get established, this could a more exciting menu going.
HORRIBLE!!! Worst experience EVER! I went in and it seemed nice enough... got the happy hour wine for $3 and some appetizers for $3 as well. Went out walked around and came back to have a beer. Then went to buy my ticket for the show... the Legendary Pink Dots were playing and I even saw them eating there but when they check my ID to get in they tell me that I can't see the show cuz they'll lose their liquor license if I watch a band playing downstairs. Nevermind that they JUST served me 2 different alcoholic beverages... so... read more
Awful !!!! The food there is awful, I had the tomato soup, tasted like reheated pasta sauce, and then my main course was the Sheppards Pie, also a complete disaster. This place should be closed !!!! The menu and cooks need serious help.
hipster denny's The doug fir is alright but if you go ther after a show at the Bossanova, be sure and leave before anyone else and get a table, otherwise you are screwed. PROS: cheap decent food, opened way after bars close CONS: its kind of a 'scene'. A bit uppity for no apperant reason.
Fun place with decent sound in the music venue. Cool hotel attached in case you need to spend the night.
A great lounge, especially if you're seeing a show downstairs. Also, one of the go-to places for out of town visitors. Breakfast and happy hour are great, while service can be hit and miss. I love the fries.
Good food, the staff was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere & entertainment were equally awesome. Me and my friends had a BLAST
