We tried it because we used to love the Penguin before its demise. Let's be clear, this is not the Penguin 2.0. Definitely more of a family restaurant. Started with a huge batch of pickles that were pretty good, but the batter just would not stay on. My crab cakes and sweet potato fries were sadly pretty bland. Husband's burger and fries were good. An extra star for the neato wallpaper. ;)
Great food, lively environment! Very friendly employees! Oh and I can't forget to mention the Mac N' Cheese! The best I've had outside of my own kitchen, EVER!!!
Food was awesome, and not that expensive! A piece of Charlotte heritage worth checking out!

Awesome food and a great atmosphere. Burger and Mac and cheese were awesome and the bartender was very nice!
Great place for eating dinner outside OR 3am breakfast after the bar.
I go back to the Diamond because their food is always good.
Food was excellent. Took 1 1/2 hours to get the food after we ordered
