Just like Italy! Di Bruno Brothers in the Italian Market on 9th Street, is much like the cheese stores or formaggiera I've visit in Italy. I love cheese and this store is for cheese lovers! And cheese tasters! The staff is always ready to cut a sliver off a block of cheese for a taste. Cured meats, olives, breads are also available and the atmosphere is so very friendly. A great place to enjoy a bit of Italy!

wonderful place! This is a must stop on your list when visiting south Philly's Italian Market. Yes, it's expensive. But you get what you pay for. The service is impeccable. The workers give out samples and suggestions. Tell them what you are drinking, they'll tell you what cheese to get. Oh the cheese! The maxx is one of my favorites. Pepporoni? Salami? They have it all. Please go in and stock up. then, like me, you'll be back next month for more!

First time i was very disappointed This is one place i always said i feel like i died and went to heaven..and i'm hoping it was just an off day of dropping in after spending $35 here..but one items i just love is Pasta Carmella..i dont like it dry but this batch i took home was so loaded with mayo i left a good bit of it..it got sickening after awhile eating it..i have noticed lately they do not make it as good as it once was. . I ordered out of curiosity a mac and cheese sandwich..which was toasted on a multigrain type slice bread..well it was very bland..i had thought the mac and cheese would be a thick slab and rather multi type cheese and tasty..was a thin amount of mac and cheese with some type spread and a orangish dipping sauce..ugh.. i threw half out. I picked up some pretzel fingers w/a white dipping sauce garlic parm type.. the pretzels were stale this at 2 pm..the dip thick and pasty. Not fun having to put almost 40 bucks on your credit card and throw most of it out.. anyhow..there were lots of yummy looking stuff..but i think my days of loving pasta carmella..or some of their sandwiches might be gone..lots of it looks good..but either bland or overdone .. I'll have to try some new things and they do have great items cheeses and jar items..meats..etc. so don't let my disappointing visit..detract from the awesomeness of the store.

A Gem amongst the Rough There is no question that the Italian market is dying. Di Bruno Brothers is an absolute beacon amongst the decay of the neighborhood. Be prepared to sample cheeses to your hearts content. It does get crowded since it's such a small shop, but you have to brave the crowd for the delicious delights within. It goes well beyond a cheese monger ' s delight with offerings of assorted olives, meats, and other foodie fodder.

Excellent Market....Tons of Fun We had a group event here, which included sampling all sorts of meats, cheeses etc..... I was in from out of town, not having ventured into this area of Philly. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at Di Bruno's. Got to taste some amazing meats, from beef to pork etc......and a huge variety of cheeses, and then appetizers fixed with tremendous variety of taste. Everything is TOP TOP quality. Don't hesitate to stop by.....is a great market. Enjoy

Midnight Moon Don't be intimidated by this busy cramped market... get in line and wait to be helped I promise you won't regret it. All the cheese mongers working there know thier stuff and are more than happy to assist you with selecting cheeses, cured meats, etc. They give samples of all you will buy, someimtes with accompanyments. This is where I found me new favorite: Cypress Grove Chevry Midnight Moon. Aged six months or more, this blushing, ivory-colored cheese is dense and smooth with a slight crunch of protein crystals that form naturally with aging. Made in Holland it is nutty and brown buttery up front with a long caramel finish. Try with fig jam and a belgian dark or stout.

Great market We decided to stop in the shop before we went to eat. We bought all kinds of cheese , after tasting several, from the sales person Anne. She really had a great knowledge of cheeses and other items that they sell. We bought a very delicious prosciutto di parma, Roman artichokes, pasta, etc. We will be back. This place was meticulously clean. I wish I could say the same for the rest of the Italian market.

Don't go hungry The best cheese shop in Philly hands down. The staff are knowledgeable and readily chop samples for you to try. We left with two provolones, a rare cheddar, some smoked specialty sausages and crustini. They'll be a nice treat for the Eagles game tonight!

Love Di Bruno Bros! This is the place to go to for great meats, cheese, and fresh pasta. The counters are stuffed with amazing Italian offerings from meatballs to cannoli shells. I have never been disappointed in any purchase I've made here although I never come out with what I went in for. The staff is so welcoming and willing to help that I always leave with more than I intended, which according to taste isn't a bad thing.
