DVS takes soul food to an entire new level, extra bonus points for doing it all Vegan. I'm in love with this place in the heart of Detroit's east village.

The food and ambiance was great. I dined with my husband and 3 children who are meat eaters and very hard to please. They loved it!

We had the best dinner last night, May 7, 2015. Great staff, friendly, great cooks. We made a reservation from their website, easy to do,and important if you have a group of 6. Its a smallish cafe, bright and cheery. So good, I had a "burger" with avocado, yam chips freshly made, we had broccoli appetizer, dessert-can hardly wait to return. Thanks Detroit Vegan Soul!

The food was great, however the service was questionable. They were very busy and it seemed no one had a specific role. My husband and I were asked to move to a different table in order to accommodate an incoming party, after having already waited at least 30 minutes for our food. That was very distasteful and rude. The service makes the difference between a good place and an exceptional place. They really can use some help in the service department.

Dinned for the first time March 28th at the suggestion of a friend visiting from Ann Arbor. Of all the new places she could have selected...I am glad she picked D.V.S. I was then remind of this jewel on my "must visit" list. So many interesting selections for a non-vegan to explore, I had a hard time deciding. (Collard greens, pintos/brown rice and potato salad. Friend: Catfish plate )We both thoroughly enjoyed our selections! I will now add D.V.S to the rotation and will gladly bring friends! The staff was also great!
