Founded in 1963 by Portland culinary icon Horst Mager, der Rheinlander offered a unique experience with strolling accordion players and singing waitresses. Almost 50 years later owner Suzeanne Mager, Horst’s daughter, carries the authentic old-world feel with traditionally dressed, singing staff serving scratch-made recipes and extensive German beer and wine selections.

It was their last night. We really enjoyed it. Good New year party.
Lots o good food, atmosphere and musical fun as a lasting memory of a great restsurant. On to Gustav's in Beaverton!

It had been over thirty years since I last visited the Rheinlander. I forgot about the extraordinary entertainment that the Rheinlander staff puts on. Our Server had an excellent voice and had everyone in our party singing along. The Meals were well prepared. I am sorry to see them close
The Rhinelander has been a family tradition of mine for many years! So sad to know that it is closing down in a couple of days. Fabulous service, atmosphere and food. Thank you Horst Mager!
Tonight was my last night to go here. We are so sad to see it go. The food has always been wonderful and the atmosphere magical. Please consider relocation or bringing the singing to other locations. So many find such joy in it.
