great place to walk and relax
First time there and if you have not been you need to go because this place is beautiful and so much to see!! Planning next trip all ready!!
This is a beautiful place. Great place for me to hold photo shoots.
I have many good memories at Dawes. I will really miss the place once they start charging. Like many others have said, I won’t be back. It would cost me $35 a trip... not worth it. They’ll be wishing they hadn’t done this move after the ghost town it becomes next year.

Awesome place to escape the city scene. From the Japanese garden to the lake, it’s haven. Doesn’t matter what part you go to, you feel like you’re deep in a deserted part of the forest yet never truly alone. The keepers do an excellent job.
My wife and I "discovered" Dawes by accident when we were dating 25 years ago. She was stranded on I-70 and I came out to rescue her, and when we came back to pick up her car, I saw the sign for Dawes, remembered an article I read about it in the newspaper, and decide to stop in to check it out. We live about 60 miles away, but have been back dozens of times since. It has always been a special place for us, and we look forward to returning for many years to come!
Fun family time!!! Great way to get out and enjoy mother nature. Staff was very friendly. Will definitely return again!
With the recent decision to implement a fee for access I can not recommend Dawes any longer. The Dawes Family intended access to be free for all. Not "Free with a membership", not free only on certain days, not free in specific areas only.
