dr. fung is indeed a med prescribing doctor, but i'm bipolar and the fact is i should be on meds. my mental health has improved greatly since i started seeing him 2 years ago, although i do suffer from the side effects of anti psychotics and lithium. i think it's important to remember that virtually all PSYCHIATRISTS are medication inclined. find him to be patient and caring and i trust that he has my welfare and happiness in mind.
Patient, easy to talk with, knowledgeable on the latest and greatest. The first psychiatrist I have ever seen - I couldn't have asked for a more positive experience.
A friend of mine suffered with Dr. Fung some years ago. Drugged him with antipsychotics, which puffed him up and left him inactivated, uninterested in his own cleanliness, and afraid to go out. Record-keeping included numerous untruths, including assertions of violence and illegal activities. These assertions made their way into hospital records and affected his treatment in hospital no matter what sort of problem he went for. Can't recommend Dr. Fung. At all.
Dr. Fung used to be a psychiatrist at the West End Mental Health Team. My experiences with him were really awful. He would not listen to you when you spoke. He thinks he knows what's best for you. He pumps you full of antipsychotic medication for conditions you may not even have. He was always negative toward me and had me down as violent and borderline retarded, which the psychiatrist I've seen for over 10 years since then disagrees with. Dr. Fung shouldn't be practising psychiatry, he's very dangerous.
Does not like to listen to his patients when meds are giving odd side effects, and assumes that the patient doesn't know what they are talking about. Very comfortable with a certain few drugs, but gets lost and confused when those drugs don't work.
Went to him 4 times and found him to be cold, eager to push meds. He lectures rather than listens compassionately. Makes me feel like I was at fault for my anxiety. I'm on the wait list to see someone else - anyone else.
had dr. fung as a psychiatrist years ago. found him to be cold,too clinical, and much to eager to prescribe meds. during our sessions he would actually doze off to sleep. which in retrospect is quite hilarious if self esteem is major issue. turned me off psychiatry as a mental health modality forever.
This is the worst doctor to see. I f you want to be hooked on 12 medications and numb to the point youre not there in your head, cant talk, drive, slurrying your words, then go see this doctor. Prescribed meds to cover symptoms of other meds, terrible doctor. Shouldnt have its licence...like a drug dealer for head medication...
Made me feel more anxious than I was before I saw him, which is not great when you have an anxiety disorder. Was very cold and unfriendly. I am glad I found a different shrink in Vancouver.
