All of the staff are incredibly friendly, including Dr. Shumate. He is attentive, listens, and comes up with solutions. The office has state-of-the-art equipment that makes your visit so much more comfortable. I am really happy that he was still taking new patients!
He fixed my front bottom teeth and my smile is beautiful!!! He did everything he said he was going to do and with a smile. I wouldn’t go any place else. Thank you Dr. Shumate!!!

Today I had a follow up to a temporary bridge placement. The staff was once again as always, very warm and welcoming. Dr, Shumate is wonderful at taking time to walk me through the procedure, giving me a great deal of comfort. This practice offers top quality dental support, while managing to be very humble and caring. I would recommend this office and staff to anyone in need of dental services.
I tripped and fell while shopping. I not only chipped but later learned I fractured both my front teeth. I called the emergency line and she was able to get me right in on Monday morning. He has the best staff around! I have never been able to go to the dentist without fear. Just his presence calms you down. He numbed me before attempting shots to finish numbing. Everyone at Porter’s Neck Family Dentistry from Dr. Shumate to his hygienists, to the front office staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Dr. Shumate is especially great at explaining things in an understandable way and always takes the time to listen to and address my concerns. They always go the extra mile.
Dr Dana and the team are awesome.I have terrible anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist and they have been very friendly and kept me relaxed every time ive been there i highly recommend
