Deep red walls, funky art, fantastic food and a wine bar balcony make this downtown restaurant a local favorite. Chef/owner Tom Douglas, who also owns Etta's Seafood and Palace Kitchen, spares nothing to make the most interesting, flavorful, beautifully presented dishes. For appetizers, try the Scallion potstickers and Penn Cove Manila clams. Entrees feature numerous seafood selections and wood-grilled meats. Do not skip dessert. Douglas is renowned in Seattle for his coconut cream pie with white chocolate. Dinner is served ... read more

One of Seattle's Best-Defintely Not! – Our visit to the Dahlia Lounge was actually one of our worst dining experiences anywhere. We sat down to eat dinner around 9 pm on a Saturday and were informed that the appetizer I wanted to order, the entree my partner wanted to order and the dessert I wanted were not available. This was appalling. What was more appalling was the bland and rubbery free range chicken that we were forced to order since so many things were missing. Our server was so rude I wonder how he keeps his job. I h... read more
No thanks – Althugh many of reviews say that this restaurant is one of Seattle's best, I didn't find that this restaurant was anything special. The lighting was very dim making it hard to see anything. There were many children around us and the food wasn't anything to get excited about. For the price that you pay, you are probably better off hitting a different restaurant. This is another restaurant that I found catered to the older wealthier crowd, so if you are in your early 20's, this isn't really a friendly place to be. ... read more
A perfect meal!!! – We had the most fantastic time at the Dahlia this last Sunday night. It's all we've talked about since. Paul, the chef, was awesome. Not to mention our waitress. The food was UNREAL!!! The lamb cheeks (loved the dishes they came in), the oysters, that hamachi concoction with the miso, my very first taste of foie gras (by the way, oh my GOD!!! New favorite delicacy), that poke & THAT DUCK, the crabcakes & the short rib. It all was incredible. No... incredible doesn't do justice to how good I felt after tha... read more
RUDE – My husband and I had been looking forward to trying out Dahlia. The night was rainy and I had on a blue rain coat with a hood. When we stepped inside the empty entrance way and partially full restaurant at 9pm. The man behind the host desk quickly informed my husband that our table wouldn't be available for an hour or so and that there were no spaces at the bar. The man was quite possibly the rudest and most condescending customer service person that I have ever encountered. I can't comment on the food because we cert... read more
The bread, man, the bread... – While I enjoy their desserts, etc, what makes the Dahlia Bakery stand out is their bread. Whether you call it Bauernbrot, Pan del Pueblo or Pain de Campagne, you find it everywhere in Europe and the Dahlia's is as good as it gets, in this country, anyway.
Too little for too much – Food was good. We had 2 appetizers, the "signature" recipes....potstickers & crabcakes. The order for crabcakes was 1 piled high with assortment of nicely done vegetables about $9.00. The potstickers were 3 @ $3.00 ea. No potsticker on earth is worth $3.00! I make better crabcakes & I can find them on the plate without having to dig to find them. I thought at anytime this was highly overrated & overpriced let alone at noon. The presentation was beautiful, but there are lots of beautifully presented ... read more
Nice place. Good food. Filling. – Dahlia is one of my favorite places to eat, on dates and with groups. The service is excellent. The food is yummy. I've had a couple of dishes I didn't absolutely love, but for the most part the food is great. It's a bit expensive, but filling. Split something and order and ap.
Overpriced, overrated – First time at this 'old' establishment, a supposed staple of Seattle seafood, and it was frankly disappointing. We had ordered 2 orders of Hamachi poke, for $4.50 apiece, and received two small (small!) "soy-sauce dipping saucers" of diced Hamachi fish, similar in size & consistency of relish. Then ordered entrees of crab cakes (which was good), and seared sturgeon (OK...). Ended with dinner of 1 coconut cream pie (OK, that was good...) and 3 Pellegrino Aranciatas for drinks, and the total tab (with t... read more
It's all about the chef name – My Seattle dinner club had dinner here about 8 weeks ago. We found the service to be fairly diffident and seemed to have the attitude that they were doing us a favor by serving us. Food is fine but overpriced. They strive for artistic and unusual presentation instead of striving for amazing flavor. I wouldn't go again unless someone else was dying to try it and picking up the bill. I'd rather spend my money at El Gaucho, Al Boccalino, Sazerac or the Brooklyn.
