About this business

Deep red walls, funky art, fantastic food and a wine bar balcony make this downtown restaurant a local favorite. Chef/owner Tom Douglas, who also owns Etta's Seafood and Palace Kitchen, spares nothing to make the most interesting, flavorful, beautifully presented dishes. For appetizers, try the Scallion potstickers and Penn Cove Manila clams. Entrees feature numerous seafood selections and wood-grilled meats. Do not skip dessert. Douglas is renowned in Seattle for his coconut cream pie with white chocolate. Dinner is served ... read more

Never been treated like THAT before – When I have an underpar experience, I chalk it up to a server's bad night or something, but I have never been treated like THAT before. The hostess or whomever gave us the worst greeting ever "Have you SEEN our menu?" We responded yes with reluctancy as she turned around and asked "Are you going to have dinner? You really SHOULD look at the menu" We all looked at this woman in disbelief. She was talking about the prices perhaps, our maybe our ages, 25-32 But this was unbelievable. But ou... read more

Another great Tom Douglas restaurant – Went to Dahlia for a date, and got crab cakes and five-spice duck, sea bar sampler and potstickers. Crabcakes were served with sauteed vegetables, including chayote, an interesting kind of squash. Different! Fun. Duck was served with curried fried rice with little pieces of sausage, and a side of what tasted like papaya chutney - yum! Our server suggested delicious wines that complemented our dinners perfectly. Tried some of the belgian fries, served with curry ketchup and a grainy must... read more

Not what I had hoped for.... – I was very disappointed! The drinks were nothing out of the ordinary- apple martini....yawn! The small plates were not very good at all- the mackeral was over cooked, the octopus was flavorless and the crab with mussel sauce was weird tasting. I ordered the venison which was the highlight of the evening, although I felt that the chef was trying to hard to serve eclectic dishes instead of serving flavors that mesh. The service was horrible! Our waitress was completely indifferent to us and the o... read more

mr. – Although I'm sure that some will find Tom Douglas' style a bit experimental, this restaraunt has been churning out consistently fantastic food for years. Not for the standard steak and potatoes crowd, but if you are looking for something unique, with fresh local ingredients, no one does it better than Dahlia.

to each his own – I am surprised at the negative reviews since our dinners have always been v.g. to excellent. We do order wine, but no dessert. If there is any neg., it is that sometimes my husband gets indigestion afterwards! Even tho they are always so busy, we have been seated right away/ in a reasonable amt of time (with a reservation) and have received snappy, professional service. We are fussy about both. I do not think of Dahlia Lounge for fish--even tho another reviewer pans it and then suggests Elliott's. I have nev... read more

One of the worthy Belltown restaurants – This is one of the few Belltown restaurants I return to again and again. As a vegetarian, the selection is not that good, but what they have is always very tasty. The service is usually very good, and I always like the atmosphere.

One of a Kind – Whether you are looking for an afternoon treat or a nice bread to accompany dinner - Dahlia Bakery is one of the sweet finds of Seattle. Not only are the staff overly friendly and helpful, but the simplistic details of providing customized ribbon, greeting cards or a bag of swedish fish to embellish any purchase definitely reminds us why a visit to this Bakery is a sweet treat.

Great experience! – Have been to the Dahlia 3 times first 8 pm on a Sat and they were full so called Palace Kitchen to save us a seat at the bar (which they gladly did), second sat at the bar and had the most delicious appetizers and drinks ever (and met Tom Douglas), and the third for a dinner. When I made the reservation I expressed concern over making our concert in time. The hostess said shed make sure the kitchen knew. When we arrived they commented they knew we had a timetable and the waitress knew as well. Our entrees... read more

We had heard that Dahlia Lounge was 'the place to go' and were looking forward to our meal. Such a disappointment! The menu was small, the food was so-so and the prices were way too high. Our waiter was very nice and helpful but it still didn't make up for the sub-standard food.
