My bill was $25 a month for about 3 to 4 months on a house that we do not live in, it's empty & for sale. This was all summer. So September hits & they installed that new "Smart" meter & the bill goes up to $115 a month & $107 the next month. No one lives there! Nothing changed from one month to the next! They are saying that all of a sudden something in the house started using more electricity. I think that's a bunch of fecal matter! The new meter apparently has issues. They tested it today & they "say" it is functioning at... read more

Consumers energy customer support is the absolute worst I have ever delt with. To begin with, when I started my electric and gas with them in February of 2016, they only signed me up for electric service. As a result of this, they turned my gas off in the middle of winter. When I pointed this out they changed the story to it was for work in the area. I once again explained I was... read more

Energy companies are unfortunately a necessary evil, so there is not much getting around it. Consumers Energy is essentially my only option living in an apartment. My energy bill is normally about $65, which is fine. But my last bill was, without exaggeration, $200 more than usual. I contacted them about this and they explained that essentially they hadn't charged me enough for prior months and those discrepancies were piled into one month's payments. Had I not contacted them at all I would have been left with no explanation... read more

How could you give this company and A+ you clearly are paid off. This is the dirtiest, scummy, incompetent company around. They have been illegally charging me for services without my approval that I haven't used and in 4 months time my bills have more than tripled without any change in use of electricity. And to top it all off they will not return phone calls and I have had a customer service rep hang up on me.
