unaverage service – We went here on a Friday night. We were seated pretty quickly, however that's when the promptness ended. It took long periods of time between waiting for our order to be taken, our appetizer to come, then our entrees, and finally another long wait after we were done eating for our bill. The food was ok, but not so spectacular that I would want to go back to withstand the type of service we had. I would actually avoid this place in the future due to being almost ignored.
Sleek but cozy Thai Decor with average Thai food – Overall, ChiangMai Thai was a pretty good experience. Service: We were seated immediately, and our hostess was very pleasant and helped us get our young family tucked into a comfortable table. Our waitress was also as accomodating as she could be given the menu limitations re: kiddos, but was really nice about letting our kids eat some cheerios, and the milk and bananas that my husband had to "forage" for at the nearby Calhoun Square Starbucks. Food: We ordered fried tofu (a... read more
Great food, poor service – My fiance and I went to the trendy, uptown Chiang Mai Thai and the food was wonderful, but the service was the worst we'd ever had. The waiter was very snobby and it seemed like he couldn't even stand being in our presence, so much so that we did not receive timely refills. We were dressed nicely and not acting rude or out of line at the restaurant. He was very curt with us and I could see him talking with another waiter and laughing in our general direction. I was really hurt by this and don't und... read more
Managers need to read these reviews – I love the food at this restaurant, and it upsets me that I won't be going back. I've been several times and always leave upset with the wait staff and hosts. For my husband and I, part of going out to eat is the atmosphere - not just the food - and every time I've been, I've ended up just feeling put off with the way we've been treated. It's interesting too, because reading the reviews it seems as though other people have said the same thing - if I was the manager of a restaurant I woul... read more
Excellent Experience Overall – I love Chiang Mai Thai. I am not from the area but everytime I am in town visiting I make a point to revisit! I love the food and have never had bad service. I try a new menu item each time I visit and have never been disappointed.
what happen!!!! – This restaurant use to be good, but now the food is nasty. I had a bad waitress who try to bs me why the food is sweet. The manager need to stop and hang out at the bar and actually try to train their staff better. Foood eew.
Food actually spicy – One of the problems I have with Thai restaurants is that the "spicy" dishes are never really spicy. Or, if the dishes are spicy, they are so immersed in the peppers that you cannot taste anything else. I think that the dishes here have the perfect blend of peppers and distinct flavoring. That said, the level of spicyness changes everytime I go there (I guess it depends on the chef cooking that night). The Pad Thai is delicious and so are the buffalo wings.
really nice atmosphere – I can't say I've every been outrageously impressed by the food here, but I LOVE the ambience. When you step into Chiang Mai Tai, you almost feel asthough you are in Thailand and that's quite a feat! The happy hour is great too. I've eaten dinner here a couple of times, but nowadays i generally just come for happy hour and drinks because I just like hanging out here so much!
Cool cocktails, a chic vibe and tasty Thai cookery make this a happening Uptown hangout. – In Short The Asian-inspired decor is chic and tasteful, from the sleek, cherry-stained furniture and paper-shaded wall sconces to the elegant Asian art that adorns the walls. Its prime location on Calhoun Square makes Chiang Mai a popular starting point for a night of Uptown barhopping--booths are often filled with good-looking 20-somethings sipping cocktails. Don't let its stylish looks fool you: Chiang Mai turns out delicious, authen... read more
