A dynamic menu that changes on a daily basis along with a fascinating menu of cocktails awaits you at Chef & the Farmer. From the Peach-pancetta wraps to the bread baskets filled with the goodness of caramelized onions and sweet potatoes to the wood-fired pizzas, this is the best it gets in a small town restaurant delivering big flavors. The decor is styled appropriately with a rustic charm and earthiness, visible on the walls and the furnishing. The restaurant also houses an eclectic beer selection which is produced in thei... read more

Everything was excellent!!
We really enjoyed our dinner last night at The Chef, while on our second visit to Kinston... likely to be a third! Thanks to chef, the kitchen and Carlos for a truly enjoyable evening. If you have the means to get to Kinston, just do it!
Glad we went, but too loud, wait staff moving around quickly was distracting, and annoying, waiter who poured water spilled it at each of our settings which made for a messy table. Menu was interesting, but trying too hard to be wildly unique. The fried collards were surprisingly good and I’m glad the server said to eat them like chips otherwise I wouldn’t have tried them. Again too loud so did not need background music. Great decor and lovely women’s restroom and very clean.
We have driven 5 hours 3 times over the past couple years to eat at Chef and the Farmer and it's been totally worth it. The menu changes all the time and is always fresh, creative and locally sourced. We had the opportunity to sit and watch the food being prepared and chat with the expediter last night and that was really a pleasure..and as viewers of A Chefs Life it makes the experience even more fun. The bonus was this morning we took a walk around Kinston and we hear "Hey there, it's Vivian!" My daughter had her Chefs Lif... read more
Menu changes daily Food is wonderful very creative combinations always a great taste no matter what you order however it is a limited menu but great choices. Would absolutely recommend you to try it
I’ve wanted to try this place out since I first saw Vivian on PBS a couple/few years ago! I was thrilled with the experience, not disappointed in the least and being from Asheville we have some great experiences with farm-to-table fine dining that’s saying a lot. The menu is varied enough to give anyone a good choice but not overwhelming. The portions generous, the food of excellent quality, the presentation lovely, dining ambiance and service perfect! Our waiter James was absolutely great. Good recommendations, answered any... read more
Wonderful food, atmosphere and staff. One of the best meals I have ever had. Well worth the 5 hour round trip.
It is so delightful to have a waitress that seems to really enjoy her job and is so good at it. The creativity and work that goes into each dish makes them all special. Makes me proud to be from North Carolina.
