Cheaha State Park Located in Clay and Cleburne Counties, Cheaha State Park is the pinnacle of natural beauty and awe in Alabama. Surrounded by the Talladega National Forest, this foothill of the Appalachian Mountains holds the reputation of the highest point in Alabama. Standing 2,407 ft. above sea level, it is no wonder why the local Creek Indians named this place Chaha, meaning high place.

Beautiful natural areas, trails, rental cabins, etc. highest point in Alabama.
This park is nothing short of amazing! We stayed at the semi primitive campground with friends. We had five Kids ranging from age 5-13 They had a blast! Shannon made sure we had a beautiful view and nice set up large enough for our group and safe for the kiddos! We can’t wait to visit this park again!
Absolutely beautiful place! Love all the trails, the views, the nature, the people, the campsites....EVERYTHING! Its a little piece of heaven in our little county!!
We always took our family camping there when my boys were little now we get to go with them and their families. Being able to watch my grandbabies play and explore like my boys did is such a blessing. It's a family-child friendly place, we were even able to take the baby with us. Cheaha will always hold a special place in all of our hearts. Anyone who visits Cheaha is guaranteed to fall in love!!
I can not begin to say enough good things about Cheaha State Park and their staff and facilities. It was the most absolute perfect getaway trip. The Upper Campground is AMAZING and the RV sites are VERY level. It couldn't have been any nicer or easier. We are already planning our next trip. Y'all - seriously, this is the BEST state park we've been to so far in Alabama. H. Sullivan (Heather I think) was incredibly nice at check in and also in handling our site issues.Pulpit Rock and Bald Rock alone make the trip worthwhile, b... read more
First visit to Cheaha State Park was a success! Love all the pull-through campsites, clean and pristine surroundings and friendly staff. Bathrooms were always in order. Easy access to hiking trails nearby the campsites was a plus. Three waterfalls within hiking distance—even drove to some covered bridges.
The park and staff are amazing! Beautiful views and nice campsites.
We absolutely had the most wonderful time hate we had to leave due to weather!!
A beautiful, serene park. The road coming in is great for motorcyclists! Beware though if you’re motorcycle tent camping. The sites are all very rough and rocky, there’s little to no grass for comfort. Have a good footprint and a better air mattress! — at Cheaha Mountain.
