The kiva center had helped bring positivity into my life in a very short time span.
Deaf-HH were blatantly excluded at KIVA Center/CMRLC for public showing of mental health movie " Healing Voices", 05MAY16. Request for CC's for Deaf-HH was met with the awareness of Spanish subtitles. Peer facilitator coordinator decided to select Spanish subtitles instead of the CC's that Deaf-HH was requesting. It may appear I am only one because for the past year I may be only one asking for ASL interpreter, CART & CC's...constantly being denied. Kiva is my second home I strive for to be healed.
One of the most AMAZING places to go for peer support in mental health and substance abuse! It is not a business... it's a family and has changed my life!
I am newer to The Kiva center but I have a lot of support from the peers there. I have recently been through some ups and downs and this is a place I can turn to and feel safe and secure and get the help I need. I am also looking to doing some art related projects and art projects to help with community support. I also finished training as a peer facilitator so I will be giving back by running groups and helping and supporting others.
