Bordering on abysmal – After reading the glowing reviews (which I'm now positive are fakes) I decided to take my girlfriend here, hoping for an evening filled with romantic ambiance and top-tier cuisine. We got neither. What I got was tough, overcooked salmon served on a sloppy bed of flavorless couscous dry enough to cause dehydration, and hummus that tasted about one notch down that bought at Trader Joe's. My girlfriend was cajoled into ordering one of the "specials" -- a pound of pasta drowned in olive oil and topped with... read more
Everything here is great! – After having dined at (and being disappointed by) numerous trendy L.A. restaurants, it's refreshing to find a place with a friendly staff, a welcoming atmosphere and absolutely great food. The breakfasts here are unique, healthy, and always hit the spot. For lunch, it's always hard to choose between the sandwiches and the salads (and I've never been a salad guy, but this place has changed my outlook); and the trend continues at dinner with even more options, each masterfully prepared with fresh, h... read more
My Favorite Neighborhood Restaurant – If truly spectacular food, a great atmosphere and a fun, friendly staff are things you look for in a restaurant, then Cayenne Cafe is your place. My husband and I have been coming here since soon after they opened several months ago and have absolutely loved everything we've had here (we've tried over half of the menu). Their hummus is the best I've ever had, their salads, sandwiches and dinner fare are fresh, inventive and always tasty, and their unique breakfasts are a welcome change f... read more
A great place to chill and eat – I was told by a friend to check out the Cayenne Cafe since it's in our neighborhood. I was thrilled to find it to be such a great place. I thought the ambience was casual enough for a dinner with friends and yet cozy enough for a date. The menu is great and full traditional mediterranean dishes. We shared two salads which were fresh and flavorful and really filled us up. I would suggest coming and trying it out whether for a light meal or if your really hungery. Even though it's right on busy... read more
Lazy Sunday morning – I found this gem on city search. Loved the fava bean scramble, the atmosphere and the service! The interior was intimate and cozy. The patio was darling. They even brought a "snack" bowl and water out for our pooch. They are going to start having musicians in on Friday nights and belly dancing on Saturday nights. I can hardly wait to go back! I will definitely be recommending this to my friends and clients. Saturdays.
Glad I found this! – We went here over the weekend and were pleasantly surprised. The parking is ample, the staff very friendly, and the atmosphere casual and clean. WOW, the fava bean breakfast is definitely the best things I've had in a long time. It looked so beautiful when it arrived that I didn't want to ruin the presentation. The fries that come with the falafel are also excellent! Great place!
Friendly vibe and great food – This place is charming and warm. Great for dates and people watching during weekend brunch hours. If you are there during brunch hours, please try the Fava bean breakfast with eggs. It's the best breakfast food ever! Other great dishes to try are their smoke turkey plum sandwitch, and the plum chicken.
The secret is out – I been here twice and both times it was fantastic. I now feel like I am an expert on Mediterranean food. Sam and Noura really have something special.
What a wonderful find! – We first saw Cayenne Cafe by driving by. At first we were going to the Indian restaurant but was struck by the crowd and ambience of this new cafe. So we went in and then decided this is going to be our new favorite restaurant in town! Owner Sam makes the best Hummus in the world (comign from my husband who has the best Greek cook for a grandma) and his wife Christina really makes you feel welcome and special. Each day, you get to try the home-made special deserts if you have the room for it after a ... read more
