Review of Cat Doctor Some 20 years ago, my 3 year old cat suddenly lost all fur on his head and upper neck, appearing like a newborn bird. I suspected it was chemical poisoning because I lived near a small chemical plant with lax rules in my neighborhood. I took my cat to see Dr Eigner, who was then head of Cat Doctor on South 22nd Street. I agreed to what I thought would be helpful testing. When I received a call from them, they quoted a bill for over $135! Since I was out of work at the time, I was really upset. Dr Eigner'... read more
All about the money!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not the animals!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would run not walk away from this place, in my experience they were all about the money and had no problem letting it show. I never even received any communication with the actual vet who was supposed to treat my cat in the first place because they thought I could not pay. I have never felt so insulted in my life at such a critical time for my cat and would not recommend this place at all. The front staff did what they could for me. I just get a bad feeling when... read more
great vets I have been a client here for over 20 years. I used to go to a cat and dog vet and the difference is amazing. I have gone through some sad times with my kitties here as well as some happy new kitten times. They always try to get you an answer...not just throw a bunch of drugs at your kitty. Definitely the place to go if you want real answers and not just a quick temporary fix....Dr Eigner is a true professional and with the addition of Dr Andeer in the last few years this place has become the ONLY place I will tak... read more
DR. EIGNER - SIMPLY THE BEST I have had three cats that have been cared for by Dr. Diane Eigner and her staff over the last 15 years. I would go to no one else..Diane is fantatsic and is very attentive to concerns and needs. She will email me with answers to questions while she is on vacation! She also will leave her cell phone to call if there are concerns. I would highly recommend and have Dr. Eigner to anyone who truly wants world class care.
Good Experience I took my cat there recently and I had a very good experience. My girlfriend had made the appointment but I was bringing the cat there and I was reading the reviews on this site. One thing I feel one has to realize is that people with good experiences tend to not say anything while those with a bad experience are the most vocal. Either case the reviews got me worried. Fortuantly once I got there the people were very polite the doctor was wonderful and the nurse was very nice. I highly recommend them.
A solid vet practice I don't think "vet's hair touching my cat" qualifies as "conceited" or "rude." Have you ever noticed that your cat is covered in hair already? Sheesh. There sure are some strange, angry people commenting on here... Anyway, as for VCA--the care costs just as much as the Cat Doctor, but the place is corporate-run, so they try to sell you extras. I'd much prefer taking my cat to a woman-owned small business than a corporate place. Not to mention that I think the medicine is far better at the Cat Doctor.
Knowledgeable, Compassionate, Affordable First, I have to say the office is beautiful and is so clean. Doesnt at all smell like a vet office ( no chemical or pet odor) I got an appointment the very same day I called and surgery the following day. I took my 3 y-o Bengal cat in on 5/12/08 because she broke her tooth. They examined her and told me exactly what was going on and gave me a quote for surgery/extraction. ( The final bill was actually $100 less then the quote) Everyone there was friendly (Chase @ the front desk help ... read more
Beware!!! While their medical care is fine, I had a very bad experience with their front office staff. I brought my cat in to board while I went out of town for the holidays. I brought along a record of my cat's shots but no one wanted to see it. Then, on my way to the airport, I get a call on my cell that they need proof of my cat's vaccinations immediately or else I would have pay to have my cat re-vaccinated. When I explained that the cat had her shots but I wasn't able to get them the paperwork as I was about to board a ... read more
This vet steals your money! RIP OFF and you are not allowed to disagree I have 5 cats ( I know, I am a sucker for strays ) and have been going to the cat doctor for years. To be honest I don't know why. They are the rudest and most expensive cat vets I have ever come across. They lie about thier prices. The price they quote you on the pnone is nowhere near the price you will pay. Today I took my cat in for his monthly asthma shot which was quoted to me as being 35.00 which was already twice as much as the shot was costing me... read more
