About this business

Make reservations well in advance or you may never experience this spirited little neighborhood bistro that specializes in inexpensive, larger than life, family-style Italian entrees. No matter what night this place is always jammed and offers a large enclosed patio year round. Eggplant Parmesan makes for a wonderful main course, as do the many traditional pasta dishes. The extensive wine list offers a wide variety of reasonably priced selections. Most of the entrees serve two or more people. Valet parking available.

Won't go back – Average food with large portions--service was extremely slow at all junctures--waiter more interested in talking with girls at the bar and on his cell phone. There was no menu --just a chalkboard with names and no dish descriptions. When we tried to order the waiter tried to get us to order his favorite dish--we declined. We asked if a dish could be prepared without pinenuts (allergy)--No. We resorted to standbys that we knew we could order (spaghetti, chicken parmagiana). It took 30 minutes after finished to... read more

Good food, but beware the 'ambience'... – My boyfriend took me to Carmine's on a weekday night around 5:30. Surprisingly, we didn't need reservations to get in, although the place was definitely hoppin' and as the night wore on, it became more crowded. In fact, much more crowded. The food is GREAT- it's done family style, so you share with whomever you are with. We had a salad to start and the cheese ravioli as the entree...and there is so much to choose from. However, the noise in the restaurant made it impossible for me to... read more

Great spot! – Went on a Wed. evening after 8:30 w/out a res. and didn't wait at all. (I wouldn't blame a busy restaurant for having to wait 45 min. when you didn't have a reservation just because you had children. Not really a good place to take children anyway). The food was basic, Southern Italian, not exotic but done perfectly. The staff was extremely friendly and our waiter was very helpful with the menu since it was new to us and a bit different with family style portions and names for the items that don't indicate what... read more

Complaint... read this! – I have never written a complaint about a restaurant. But I have also never been treated this bad before. 150 words are not enough to explain what happened to me and my family. I was turned down and embarassed after being told to wait, for 45 minute, with 2 young children in the cold. I will never go to this place again, and would advise anyone to do the same.

Delish – Delicious food. Chicken Parm is to DIE for, they really pound out that chicken. I've never had a bad experience at this restaurant...except for the time I didn't make reservations. The trick is to DEFINITELY make reservations ahead of time.

Way over rated.. – If you're into average Italian, a long wait, and Huge plates full-o-food.. Carmine's is your place! We had a 35 min wait with kids in tow and no place to stand or wait... we'll be going back to our local favorite Cafe Cero just down the street next time we have a craving for "Better" Italian!

I'd have rather eaten at the spot – 6 of us were out for a friends birthday so we made a reservation. We stood outside for 45 minutes for a table, then waited another 45 minutes for an appetizer. Then, I couldnt make this up if I wanted to, 7 minutes later they asked if they could clear the plates. We said no, yet we asked twice more in the next 8 minutes. It became a joke as I took notes on the paper tablecloth. The food was great but that was it. Although I love the food, it wasnt worth it.

chicagobill – Not having had the opportunity to sample a larger variety of Italian cuisine in Denver, I would prefer to believe this is not representative of the best. Despite a reservation, for which we received a confirming call, we were required to wait nearly 45 minutes with little room to stand or wait. The menu, while ample, lacks imagination. I was particularly surprised to find only 3 pasta varieties offered-spaghetti, linguine and ziti. Food is acceptable- and by virtue of the portion size-fails to offer the opportu... read more

Excellent Choice – Always a huge hit! Everytime I need to impress a friend, colleague, or relative from out-of-town I visit Carmines. I have many that remember a particular visit by their visit to Carmines. If you have a large group, I highly recommend reserving the group dining room. Fixed price for dinner and drinks! How can you beat that!
