Make reservations well in advance or you may never experience this spirited little neighborhood bistro that specializes in inexpensive, larger than life, family-style Italian entrees. No matter what night this place is always jammed and offers a large enclosed patio year round. Eggplant Parmesan makes for a wonderful main course, as do the many traditional pasta dishes. The extensive wine list offers a wide variety of reasonably priced selections. Most of the entrees serve two or more people. Valet parking available.

A garlic haven – This place has got some of the best Italian dishes that Denver has to offer. Forget the comfortable atmosphere and great wine list. Forget the fabulous and oh-so-garlickey bread and ceasar salad. I am talking about perfection in the form of ravioli a la vodka and veal marsala. The beauty of this place, really, is that it's family style. That means huge dishes of great food to be shared with a large group of your closest friends. Just go. And bring a date. Or five.
At long last Carmines is Back – After years of substandard food and service Carmines is on the rebound. The food is well beyond what was once offered and fresher as well the kitchen has gotten a kick in the shorts and you can tell.
What Happened? – I used to be in love with Carmine's. The meal I had there to celebrate my college graduation several years ago was so incredibile it has never been topped. Now Carmine's is gross. I recently took a friend for dinner after bragging about what a heavenly experience it would be. I failed to take as a big clue the lack of the once perpetual line out the door. Our order explained it all. The sauce was nothing more than the drippngs strained from a can of stewed tomatoes and that's what it tasted like as well. The... read more
Two Thumbs Down!! – Hadn't been in a couple years. Badly overpriced, arrogant and inattentive staff, tables right on top of each other, food was mediocre at best, and the whole "no menu" affectation is just dumb. SUCH a disappointment. Live and learn I guess.
Carmine can cook for me anytime. – We just moved back into town and of course had to head out to our favorite italian joint from when we lived here in 2002. After living in NYC and San Francisco, we were still amazed by the quality of food and service at Carmines. We started out the with Caeser Salad which might be the best we've ever tasted. Because of the large dinner portions we decided to skip the appetizer and go straight for the entrees. We had the Veal Pazzo and the Ravioli with Vodka Sauce. Both were out of this worl... read more
Used to be a fan, but after last weekend..... won't be returning – We usually go to Carmine's for a special occasion and this weekend took my husband's family there for my mother-in-law's birthday. We had been raving about this place to my inlaws for weeks at this point. Well, we left apologizing profusely to our guests for poor service and being treated rudely. I can't even begin to explain how rude our waitress was. Sadly, this place has been going downhill for a year now. It's just not the same experience as it once was. ... read more
Snooty Staff??? No Way! – Snooty staff?? No way. The food, service and atmosphere are all amazing. I saw alot of complaints about the noise. The noise is what makes it lively! Also, don't bring young kids, do make reservations, and do bring a big group (lots of food).
Best Chicken Parm outside of Italy. You can get half orders if you eat at the bar. – Carmine's is two blocks from my house and continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in Denver. It's small, personal, and the food is great. It you like variety in your appetizer, try the Antipasti Misti; meats, cheeses, and other Italian treats. The chicken parm is great; I haven't found a better chicken parm within driving distance of Denver. Lots of good wine to sample...the pricing is moderate to expensive. This place gets crowded an... read more
WOW a GIANT disappointment... – Previously, we had loved this place....but last saturday night was a huge disappointment! We ordered a chicken dish, where there were to be 4 breasts, enough for 4 adults. What we got was one breast pounded paper thin and cut into quarters. For almost 30 bucks, it was a bummer. Also, the salad was drowned in balsamic vinegar, plus I had to ask for bread twice. The place was packed with Holiday people, which was fun but unbelievably noisy. There was one large table, where they were having a gre... read more
