I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent experience purchasing a vehicle from CarMax in Cranston, RI. I purchased a 2019 Ford Edge specifically for work, school, and safety reasons, but since day one, my car has spent more time in the shop than on the road. CarMax / MaxCare Warranty CarMax’s MaxCare extended warranty is a predatory and misleading product. The language in the service contract is so poorly written that it gives them endless loopholes to deny legitimate claims. We bought a 2019 Toyota Highlander from Car Max of Tupelo, MS and took it back within the first 30 days for a light coming on the dashboard and the car was jumping when we stopped. We were told there was nothing wrong with the car. We took it to Toyota and they told us the prior service had not been done and it was $920.00 to bring the car up to date. Ordered a truck online and it too almost 2 weeks for them to ship it under 300 miles. At the South Portland location, I arrived for a 10:30 appointment to process the paperwork and that's where it really went bad. The salesperson I had was totally inept. She had to keep asking me the same questions over and over because she had no Idea what she was doing. I purchased a GMC Denali from the Covington, LA store on December 10th, 2024. I had to return the vehicle on December 20th, 2024 due to the fact it had a bad engine. I put $5000.00 as a down payment, and to date over a month later CarMax will not return my down payment.
