Fantastic Tapas!!! – Cafe Iberico is my favourite restaurant in Chicago. Their food is always good. In my experience, their shef (s) never had a bad day.
Always a good time. – I can't think of another restaurant that consistently offers a good dining experience. I've been with groups of friends, and with clients and I have never been disappointed. The food is terrific, and I love the energy of the crowd. The mood is relaxed so you can have fun with the people you are dining with. I have never had a problem with service -- it is always prompt and not overdone. This is not a fine-dining experience, nor should it be expected. It is a casual, typical Iberian cafe.
Questionable service? – The food here is pretty good, it's jut hard as h*** to ever get drink refills.
Que? Overated amigo... – Cafe Iberico, while it does have some charm to it, clearly does not belong in this restaurant class. I don't see how anyone can seriously compare this place to say a Gibsons, or even Don Juans. Yes, the tappas was very tasty. After that everything else was at best average to mediocre. The service was slow but not terrible. The atmosphere was more like an Irish soccer bar and just way too noisy and crowded. Parking was nonexistent. Fresh made Sangria – Great fresh made sangria! Never go on the weekends after 5pm. It's always crowded, but excellent tapas. Try for the bar area.
Expect crowds, rude service, decent food – This restaurant is so popular that the staff doesn't really need to try to be nice to the customers, and that is a shame. The food is tasty, but you can find equally good food at just about any other tapas restaurant in the city, without the attitude.
Great food, if you can get in – The crowds can be overwhelming and often it's not worth it at night. But stop in for lunch or an early dinner after work--the tapas are simple and delicious.
