Circa 1880 is an excellent restaurant! It is not typical Midwestern fare and I noticed that some reviewers felt that the cost exceeded the value. That is more of an opinion based on the reviewers taste preferences. We found that each of 4 appetizers and 1 entre' had very distinctive textures and flavors that merged well and surprised the palate. Every time I dine at C. 1880 I know I'm going to have an excellent meal and awesome service.
Chef Hauck poured his heart and soul into these dishes. Not even the attention to detail,quality of products used, beautiful plating is enough to describe Chef Thomas Hauck's unexpected flavor combos that are magical, out of this world... He understands food so well; coaxing unbelievably stunning, big flavors from familiar, simple ingredients He is a wizard in the kitchen.
