Red faux-leather booths line one wall, opposed by an old-time diner-style counter with red false-leather topped stools. No fancy New Southern pretenses here, just bona fide Dixie standbys like fried chicken, oxtails, smothered pork chops, fresh fried corn, greens, and candied yams. The marriage of soul food and Southern tradition is a happy one, and it comes pretty cheap, too.

RecommendedI placed my online order for 12:00. Arrived 12:03 and was back in my ride by 12:08. Parked across the street at Walmart. Pluses: awesome chicken and worthy of its praise. Nice flavor also. Minuses related to my order: mashed potatoes come gravy less. No utensils provided either which was odd since it takeaway only.
I went here on Sunday because I saw an article that they had the best chicken in town. Read the reviews and they all talked about the wait. Ordered online at 5pm and Postmates said my food was ready at 6:05pm. Finally got my food at 7pm I drove up and about 20 people were just standing around the door. No real order or process when you walked up. You just got to try to get the attention of a worker as they come in and out the door and yell out order # to see if food is ready or not. First time coming here traveling from Memphis with my cousins .Wait time was about 40 mins food was hot and fresh definitely would try again.
Man idk what to say.... $30 for 3 oxtails in some grey gravy... Mac and cheese subpar. Im from Houston and it don’t compare to any of the soul food restaurants. Benefit of the doubt though ONLY because it was during the pandemic. But still that gravy was trash.
I drove 2 WHOLE HOURS to come to this establishment ordered my food @2:05 at 3:30 I still hadn't received my food asked for a refund got part of my refund back and was told the other half will be refunded by the end of business, they where taking orders online which advised that your food would be ready in 30 min LIESSS. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THE NONCHALANT,ATTITUDE PLACE. I know if my money isn't on my card by the end of TODAY'S business im calling THE LAW cause I've been ROBBED
Avoid this restaurant. The service is the worst my girlfriend and I have ever experienced. We and every other customer waited upwards of three hours to get food and every single server was rude to multiple people. It is a shame that there is so much history associated with this establishment and yet the service is beyond horrible. Worst service ever!!! I ordered online for my family, order said it would be ready in 1 hour, NO text or email to say order is ready so I get out car & wait 20 mins for the lady to ask my name for pickup, 13 mins later to be told they were out of the weekend special!!! I then change my order, wait another 25 mins for the lady to come out still without the right order! This place is a waste of time and energy. The worst experience I ever had at a black establishment. Very poor representation! Poor service! If you place any kind of order it will be delayed an hour past the time pick up time.
We were told to order online order was taken but then postmates intercepted the order canceled my order and said refund in 7-10 business days when ask to speak to management she said postmates always does that but never accommodated me as a paying customer so no being a Chicago native if u go out of town don’t order from here!
