Editorial fromThe line begins almost before the restaurant even opens. This small, unassumingly decorated restaurant knows how appealing it is since it is audaciously titled Burma Superstar. Burmese cuisine, as authentic as you can get it stateside, is…

loooooOOOnnNNNggg wait...but worth it. – my boyfriend went there with a group of co-workers on thursday, loved the place and convinced me to go there again on saturday. placed was already packed when we arrived at 7pm and we waited over an hour to get in. ordered rainbow salad, superstar noodles, pea leaves, curry shrimp, a bottle or chard, and coconut custard for dessert. needless to say, the food was wonderful and i would be happy to get in line to try other dishes tomorrow. oh, if you are a prima donna, dont bother going ... read more

Absolutely wonderful flavor and value – A friend took us to this place... all the raves and the wait (40 minutes, Sunday night) were completely justified. By the time we got our table, we were starving so the three of us ordered a lot of dishes (rainbow salad, mu shu veg wraps, samusa soup, shrimp curry, coconut rice, sauteed pea shoots w/garlic, a caramelized spare rib dish). Everything was amazingly good, especially the rainbow salad - such a delicate balance of flavors! We wanted the tea leaf salad but they were out and r... read more

Horribly overrated – Another restaurant that thrives on rep - an undeserved one. It's a local place, no frills, no nothing. The food is impossibly average - full of grease and lacking in flavor. As someone health-conscious, this is not the place for me. Seriously underwhelming experience. The hype is bad for this place. Lackluster food at moderate prices is nothing to rave about, my friends.

Not the real thing – I've had a lot of Burmese food in Malaysia and from Burmese friends. First they've adapted the seasoning for the American palate. The samosa soup was very watery, the samosas tasted strange. The portions on the duck noodles weren't worth it. The portions are way too small. I can understand and the table situation too crowded. If you are trying Burmese food for the first time, this is a good place to get your feet wet. But there's a whole lot to Burmese food than this.

Absolutely delicious – I went here a few months ago for the first time and, I have to say, this place is absolutely wonderful! Everything we tried was tasty and some items were reminiscent of filipino food as well as other obvious asian influences. The coconut rice (I think that's what it was...it's been a while) was delicious, with a slight nutty flavor. We tried several dishes, and they were all wonderful and extremely satisfying. For dessert, I decided to try something different from the fried banana with coconut ice crea... read more

good food, horrendous service – we waited for almost two hours to get in, while the waitress seated others ahead of us in what appeared to be a completely random and chaotic order. it was freezing outside, and by the time we got in she had to add chairs to a two-person table in front of the door. the food was good (above average but not outstanding) but the ambiance and service were simply not worth it. definitely not good for a romantic date or for large groups. it might be ok during the week at off hours...

Too little of a good thing – Burma Superstar is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants, especially since I can walk there & not deal with the horrendous parking. I love the ginger lemonade, coconut rice and super star noodles. It is a small family run place and you can expect a long wait and slow/sometimes forgetful service. Sometimes they are so busy they won't take any take out orders over the phone! They really should expand. But overall it is an excellent place, especially if you are new to Burmese cuisine.

Definitely worth a few stars – We were glad to stumble upon this restaurant. The tea leaf salad and samosa soup were out of this world. The only negative experience we had was with our entrees. Both times we ate here they were served luke warm. This may be the Burmese style, but I like my curries above room temperature. If you have not tried this place, I recommend checking it out. Be prepared for a wait!

Super Yummy – It is no wonder there is usually a long wait- the food is terrific. Make sure to try the Rainbow Salad and the beef with mint- so good. Their appetizer plate is great too. Definitely eat here- I come at least 2x a week.
