Editorial fromThe line begins almost before the restaurant even opens. This small, unassumingly decorated restaurant knows how appealing it is since it is audaciously titled Burma Superstar. Burmese cuisine, as authentic as you can get it stateside, is…

terrible service - not worth it – We had a terrible time with service. They made mistakes and then were rude and did not fix. Food is good, but not worth being treated so badly. Other places can good decent food and treat you well.
Tealeaf salad rocks! – Went to this place last night with a friend who is a regular. She told me nothing about it, but just started secretly ordering food of the menu. Every single thing was TO DIE FOR. Tea leaf salad was my fave, but other highlights were the Catfish Chowder (Moh Hinga), Beef Kebat, Coconut Rice and the Burmese Samusas (no, not samOsas, samUsas...similar, but still oh so delish). The ginger beer was nice, as well, but I also had the Lychee Julep (more like a mojito with lychee in it for a nice sweet aroma) ... read more
Worth the wait! – So what you have to wait for a table - great things come to those that wait! I love this place and so do all my friends. The flavors are amazing and the menue certianly covers a range of taste - all of it wonderful and fresh fresh fresh - love this place!!!
Wait time long, food usually worth the wait – The best time to go is NOT on a weekend night. That said, the food is excellent. Tea leaf salad, green beans, walnut prawns, poodi - all absolutely great! Our group of friends have been going to this restaurant for many years. We've had good nights and bad nights there but we always go back and we always let the waitstaff know if there is a problem. They can't fix what they don't know and it is so busy in there some nights that they don't see everything. For the wait times, we te... read more
Rangoon with a twist of SF! – This is one of my fav places in the city. I love the khow suey. Sure, I usually go there on Fridays (the busy weekend) and there is usually an hour wait, but there is a great cafe across where you can grab some drinks before dinner! And.. they actually call you when your table is ready. Inspite of being so busy, the staff is always polite and greet you with a warm smile. Sangria not bad at all either! Just chill out here and don't worry about the crowd, they'll get in next week.
Restaurant Superstar – I'd been hearing rave reviews from friends, and I finally managed to make it over to Burma Superstar. This was a great introduction to Burmese food. Service was excellent, and the prices were very affordable for lunch.
The ultimate comfort food – This is one of my top ten all-time favorites. The wait can be horrific, but it is well worth your time once you sit down. Servers, although incredibly busy, are warm and wonderful, and they really know their menu. My usual ordering routine goes something like: Burma Cooler (Beer, lemon, and ginger) Tea Leaf Salad (Earthy, spicy, and full of texture) Samusa Soup (Spicy, rich, crunchy... my number one craving on a bad day. And I still have no idea how something this rich could possibly be vegetarian... read more
Wonderful – This place is a neighborhood treasure. The food is delicious and the staff is helpful. The only short coming of this restaurant is the ambiance. But seriously, this is some of the best food the city has to offer.
Best food ever...seriously! – There are no words to describe how good this place is. It has by FAR the best food I've ever eaten. Get the tea leaf salad (amazing). Drink a mango smoothy or a ginger lemonade. Have some coconut rice. Get samosas, or even the samosa soup...to die for. About the notorious wait, it's true. But like people say, put your name in before you go, or go across the street and get some coffee or drinks, and set your mobile phone on high. Wait it out--it's worth it. As for the service, the place is busy a... read more
