Editorial fromThe line begins almost before the restaurant even opens. This small, unassumingly decorated restaurant knows how appealing it is since it is audaciously titled Burma Superstar. Burmese cuisine, as authentic as you can get it stateside, is…

the rainbow salad is a must try. there are so many ingredients in it - that it is truly unique. also, dont be frustrated with the long line, walk around clement street - check out park life gallery or grab a drink nearby.
When can we go back & order the superb tea leaf salad, garlic prawns & coconut rice? Plus an order of a whole young coconut milk, please.
great food – The food is really, really good, and they give you nice portions. The only downfall is the wait on a Thursday night was 45minutes, but the good thing is they let you leave your number and go for a walk, and there is a cute cafe across the street that you can go chill out in.
Now I get the line! – Even though I am not vegetarian, I just loved loved loved the vegetarian samusa soup here! It was delicious, and the little samusas in it were just the right little surprise in my soup, esp. since they were crispy at one point then soaked in soup. The curry I had was good also but nothing completely stand out to me. Also the tea leaf salad, their signature dish, was something that I think I will like over time, but for the first time, it was a bit strong for me. Still, it is one of their most popular it... read more
Amazing food, great service, get there by 5:30 – Sought this place out with my sister, who'd been before and knew about getting there before 5:30. Absolutely true. We got right in, and watched a horde form outside our window table. The food was stupendous. Flavors and combinations unlike anything I've had anywhere. Service excellent and informative, friendly, energetic staff. The decor is gorgeous. Topnotch
Too much Hype and over rated – This experience was a downright waste of our time. Long wait of over an hour. Small and overly crowded place. Also noticed how close the Bathroom to the Kitchen. Disgusting. In addition to all of the above....they will not allow you to sit next to your Fiance. My Fiance and I were asked to sit across from each others instead of sitting next to one another. I could not believe it. We asked if other Patrons have complained and they told us no. for a moment I thought I was in a Talaban territory. ... read more
Not sure what the hype is about? – We ordered take out because we had heard that if you don't get there at 5:30, you'll be waiting for at least an hour. We arrived at 8:00 to pick up our food and there was an hour and a half wait. The staff was very friendly. They got our order right. We ordered the Mango beef, the beef was chewy and the sauce was too sugary. We also tried the Nan Gyi Dok, it was ok, a little slimey. Both dishes left us feeling greasy and wondering what all the hype is about? Maybe we ordered the wrong dishe... read more
Lived up to the hype – We've been trying to eat at Burma Superstar for months but can never seem to get in. Just the other night we were driving by and decided to try our luck. As luck would have it we were able to get in and I'm happy to say that the food was delicious. We started with the Tea Leaf Salad and Vegetarian Burmese Samusas with a sweet sauce. Both were terrific with just the right amount of spices. The salad is tossed tableside. Our main course was the Broccoli, Coconut Rice and the Lamb Burmese Style Curry. The... read more
Go at lunch time, folks! – Unless it's a restaurant like French Laundry where you can't get in for months, I'd recommend that you go at lunch time (I've been told it's the same for French Laundry, chances are better on weekdays) to get a table. We arrived at 11:30a on a Sunday, and there were only 8 other people in the restaurant. Even after we finished, there were only 15 others dining. It's the same menu for dinner, no lunch specials or rates. It's overpriced for the food, but we really liked the Tea Leaf Salad, which wasn... read more
