Editorial fromThe line begins almost before the restaurant even opens. This small, unassumingly decorated restaurant knows how appealing it is since it is audaciously titled Burma Superstar. Burmese cuisine, as authentic as you can get it stateside, is…

My first and best burmese experience – My fiance and I got into the habit of walking in the streets of SF and crashing a crowded restaurant with a long waiting line. This way we got to try Burma superstar. It was totally worth the wait of 30 minutes. The food is a mix of Chinese and Indian and one of the rice side order was so persian with the raisins and onion cooked with it. It's a small place but cozy.If you want to try Burmese food you should definitely try this amazing restaurant.I added it to my fav list :)
Not bad, a little overrated – I read the reviews, I went, I was disappointed. The food and service were fine, but it wasn't TO DIE FOR, as some reviewers stated. I had the tea leaf salad, samusa soup, and lamb curry. Maybe some reviewers have a more sophisticated palate than I do (or are perhaps less accustomed to asian spices). Stop by if you're hungry, but don't waste your time waiting for an hour; there are plenty of great restaurants few doors down and across the street.
Never disappointed – Is it inappropriate to call this place my crackhouse? After the first time I went I was hooked for life. As a self-professed foodie, Burma Superstar reigns among my top restaurants in the city for its delicious and unique dishes that perfectly blend the right amount of familiar and unfamiliar flavors. A pleasant surprise awaits you on every "*-indicated Burmese dish". My favorites include the highly-touted tea-leaf salad, samusa soup (devoured with platha), and the succulent and tender pork curry eaten w... read more
terrible service - not worth it – We had a terrible time with service. They made mistakes and then were rude and did not fix. Food is good, but not worth being treated so badly. Other places can good decent food and treat you well.
Tealeaf salad rocks! – Went to this place last night with a friend who is a regular. She told me nothing about it, but just started secretly ordering food of the menu. Every single thing was TO DIE FOR. Tea leaf salad was my fave, but other highlights were the Catfish Chowder (Moh Hinga), Beef Kebat, Coconut Rice and the Burmese Samusas (no, not samOsas, samUsas...similar, but still oh so delish). The ginger beer was nice, as well, but I also had the Lychee Julep (more like a mojito with lychee in it for a nice sweet aroma) ... read more
Worth the wait! – So what you have to wait for a table - great things come to those that wait! I love this place and so do all my friends. The flavors are amazing and the menue certianly covers a range of taste - all of it wonderful and fresh fresh fresh - love this place!!!
Wait time long, food usually worth the wait – The best time to go is NOT on a weekend night. That said, the food is excellent. Tea leaf salad, green beans, walnut prawns, poodi - all absolutely great! Our group of friends have been going to this restaurant for many years. We've had good nights and bad nights there but we always go back and we always let the waitstaff know if there is a problem. They can't fix what they don't know and it is so busy in there some nights that they don't see everything. For the wait times, we te... read more
Rangoon with a twist of SF! – This is one of my fav places in the city. I love the khow suey. Sure, I usually go there on Fridays (the busy weekend) and there is usually an hour wait, but there is a great cafe across where you can grab some drinks before dinner! And.. they actually call you when your table is ready. Inspite of being so busy, the staff is always polite and greet you with a warm smile. Sangria not bad at all either! Just chill out here and don't worry about the crowd, they'll get in next week.
Hidden Treasure Off the beaten path in Richmond, this cozy family run Burmese restaurant has managed to create quite the following. They do not take reservations, so upon arriving at 7:45 we had to write our name on a dangling clipboard with instructions from the waitress to go get a drink and wait for her to call us. An hour later, starving, we were finally seated.
