Good Food, Crafty Charging – I ate there with my girlfriend on August 6. Lunch was great, service was good, everything was fine...until they charged someone else's bill onto my charge account along with mine. 4 calls, 1 detailed fax (including my receipt and my charge bill) and two weeks later still no one returns my calls and they haven't credited my account. Not sure I'll go back to a place that slaps bogus charges on my credit card, promises they'll fix it again and again, but does nothing. Bad for business guys!
Bar Food at downtown prices – I like bars that serve bar food. It's often inventive, fresh (turns over fast), and, best of all, priced to move. BluWater serves excellent bar food, inventive and substantial, and charges downtown prices. Although it's not fair to rate service on just one seating, if I had to, I would characterize it as supercilious and sluggish. We went during a week night, there were a good number of empty tables, it took our waitress (who we called "You Got It!") about ten minutes to saunter by. Ambience-wis... read more
Tasty food – Okay, so the service isn't the best (good looking waitresses spending more time at all-male tables flirting for a big tip while neglecting all-female or couple tables), but the food is great. Each item I've ever ordered there has been excellent! Whenever I'm craving food with lots of flavor, that's where I go...not to mention getting to make smores at my table for dessert - that has got to be the coolest thing ever!
Good food, good ambiance – We went there on a Friday evening and were seated right away. I had the baseball cut steak - it was cooked to perfection and very tasty. My fiance had the fish taco's - they were okay, but the tortillas were rather dry. All of the staff were very friendly and prompt - the only problem was that our server didn't write our orders down (a bad trend in service these days...) and got some of the sides wrong. Overall, a good value.
Cheeky chef – My husband and I had to meet friends here for brunch. Ambiance was very dull and dark. Service was slow, but our waitress was ok. I ordered a salmon starter which was swimming in thick butter- I couldn't eat it. Concerned about cholestrol, my next meal was tomato-basil soup. Quite bland. My husband fared worse than me. He had fish tacos that were horribly salty and bland. He couldn't eat his food either. Through out our meal, the fire alarm kept going off. At one point, the alarm blasted for about 4 minutes. A good dining spot – This stylish restaurant has a great, although limited, menu of dishes. I particularly liked the stuffed pork chop entree and the garlic prawn appetizer. The chocolate-laden dessert menu could use something like a sorbet trio or other lighter dessert options. The ambience is nice, and the lighting is good. Yes, it's full of the pretty people. But so what? The quality of the food is excellent, the wine list is good, and the service is pleasant.
bluwater's does not deliver – We were treated so horribly, the service was terrible and slow, the food was ok. If you are really that miserable serving people, maybe you shouldn't be a waitress? I will never go back.
Dull, I think I will stay away from both BluWater's!
Not worth trying – I had never been to the downtown location but the Greenlake addition is nothing to be proud of. Poor service, mediocre food, and trendily dressed, poorly trained waitstaff who were so plentiful they were tripping over each other. Food is typical fare, salads, steaks, chops, and a few bad attempts at seafood. Drinks were pricy and there is much better value in Seattle for 2 people to spend $50.
