For almost two centuries the hotel has offered hospitality to locals and visitors alike. It began life in 1816 as a simple boarding house for summer visitors to one of America's earliest seaside resorts. Its owner, Thomas H. Hughes, called his new boarding house "The Big House". The local people had other ideas, though. Convinced the building was far too large to ever be a success they nicknamed it "Tommy's Folly". In this first incarnation it was a quite different affair. Downstairs was a single room that served as the dini... read more

Great- highly recommend their breakfast. Unique atmosphere with many menu items.
Omg! I made reservations for dinner at the Blue Pig and a show at the Cape May Stage for tonight, the last night of the show, the Blue Pig Restaurant in Cape May never made/lost my reservation!!!!!! And now the show is sold out!! Oh sorry!!! Really! So disappointed!
I was shocked to read recent reviews, and even more shocked that I had a similar experience. Picked up a few simple, BP staples - their guac and mac/cheese. Flavorless - what happened? The homemade chips that always came with guac are now comparable to a bag of Tostitos. The mac/cheese is dry, elbow macaroni. Couldn't believe this was prepared by BP. Used to be one of our favorite dinner spots in Cape May. Sad to say we won't be coming back for a while. Whatever you changed (staff, recipes, chef??) change it back!
Gone down hill over the years. Today we had a mediocre meal... Spaghetti Bolognese was a bit bland but pasta was undercooked--not al dente, just under cooked. It also came to the the table at room temperature. My son's mac n cheese was bland and broken... the butter had separated.... not creamy at all. The salmon was fine but the kale was gritty and sandy. My wife ordered a pinot grigio that tasted like boxed wine. Oh... and we always loved the bread... ours came stale and barely warmed. This meal was not worth the $120.
Such a wonderful dinner! Unfortunately towards the end My sons shark tooth necklace from Sanibel Island broke and he proceeded to have the saddest and quietest cry ever. Our waitress, Patty, felt so bad for him that she went to the gift shop of the Congress Hotel to buy him a new one (there wasn't one so she bought him an activity book). Delicious dinner with exceptional service.
Had brunch there !!!The food was wonderful!!! I highly recommend it!!!
Wonderful Food and staff! - having deserts even... let us bring our dog❤
