Bad service Great nursery. But, I don't think I've ever been greeted or heard a nice thing out of any employees mouth, so don't go to Bluemont regularly.

I WAS a good customer until yesterday. In late July I had purchased a very large fern, pot and potting soil. I had noticed that there were some yellow leaves, which they said came from too much sun (sunburn) from the greenhouse, but that the plant had lots of new growth and would be fine. BUYER BEWARE We purchased a large amount of shrubbery and trees from Blue Mount Nursery to landscape our back yard. Within that large purchase were four (4) arborvitae topiaries. Upon delivery, the delivery person dumped the entire order in our driveway. When asked whether he could put the trees and flowers in the back yard, he replied, ??How much are you willing to tip me?? Distressed I told him to leave everything where it was, in the driveway.
Horrible service and even worse attitude I stopped by to get some plant caddies and stood in line about 25 minutes to pay for them. I do not know who their customer base is but when I asked about a $50 fee listed on the recept I was told it was the charge for reurned checks. Cashier added that was is in addition to court fees. Since I had just payed with a check I took it as an implied warning. I will not go back to this place.
Blue Mount is our Go-To Nursery I'm surprised at the negative comments about Blue Mount. It's our go-to nursery. We drive past Home Depot and Meadow Farms for Blue Mount every time. The times we have been there, everyone has been helpful and friendly, and we bought a lot of interesting specie of plants. Make the drive somewhere else! Have been to Blue Mount twice. Found prices to be very high and followed around the nursery with my children, as if we were going to steal something or damage a plant. Never offered help after purchases or even a "Thank you". Should have went with my intuition the first time when we entered the nursery through a turnstile (very unwelcoming feeling)....and will not return.
Rude and Disrespectful I've been to this nursery a dozen times maybe due to its proximity, but I will never go there again. Almost every time I'm treated like I'm going to steal something. Prices are high which would be okay if you were treated respectfully. Instead it's - you can only exit out the back door so you have to walk around the whole building. extremly helpful and friendly I've bought from Blue Mount for years and have never had any issues there, only pleasant interactions. When i need recommendations i take in pictures of the area in my yard and they are more than helpful. Blue Mount's prices are sometimes higher than other garden centers, but plant quality seems to be higher as well. It's also nice to know that whenever I have a diseased or bug infected plant i can take a leaf into them and they are able to help me both identify and control the issue. I also lov... read more
Comparison: Blue Mount, Meadow Farms, Home Depot, Lowes, and WalMart Usually I am more of a loyal customer of Meadow Farms Nursery in both the Leesburg and Reston areas. They have better and more consistent customer service. They actually remember you from year to year and work with you on a more personal note.
