The name's a bit misleading. Not only is there no ocean view, but this is not your ordinary diner. Though it has streamlined aluminum and black-and-white tile, and the fare is inspired by diner cuisine, the ingredients are the freshest available and the dishes are prepared with care and imagination. Dreaming from afar (L.A.)of all of the delicious dishes at Bette's! I miss this breakfast/brunch anytime I want, having spent 33 years in the Bay.
The banana chocolate souffle was amazing; the lox scramble, delish; the SCRAPPLE, super yummy; service was great, tunes blaring from the jukebox...a great way to start our Saturday!!!
The very best pancakes on the planet - so good, we brought the cookbook back to where we were visiting from (out of state), and treasure the recipes inside as our own family weekend go-to's. Now that we live in the area, we come here often and remember how worth the wait those incredible pancakes were on that cold November day all those years ago - they're still just as divine as ever.
