This is one of the finest steakhouses around Philadelphia. Barclay Prime's decor is more on the side of an uptown eatery with marble tables, comfortable plush sofas and walls lined with walnut bookcases. Order from the special menu, which consists of Kobe Sliders, Tuna and beef Tartar and the famous Philly Cheese steak. From the a la carte menu, take your pick from the Oysters Rockefeller, 12-ounce filet Porterhouses and the dangerously delicious sounding butter poached-lobster.

Barclay Prime is an average steak house. If I had to pay for this myself, I wouldn't go. I had a gift certificate, so I gave it a try. The Kobe sliders were good, otherwise I would say it's a typical steak-house, priced very high.
one of my favorite places – very nice place, it's classy and very comfortable . the steak is outstanding, lobster soup is incredible. always look forward to come back to this steakhouse.
Have not found a better restaurant in Philly – I've been to a lot of places to eat in Philly, and a number of its steakhouses. Barclay is the best, period. Capital comes close, but does not equal it. The 24 oz porterhouse is the best deal on the menu. The Wague/Kobe is good, but in my opinion not worth the added price. Ask if they have any Kobe actually imported from Japan (that's not on the menu), that IS worth the price. Everything else, 5 stars across the board. My only beef (pun intended) with the place is that I can't a... read more
so so For the price of Barclay Prime I wouldn't recommend it at all. I've been there a few times because my fiance absolutely loves the Kobe beef $85 steak. I have gotten a filet well done on two occasions and just found myself eating an overpriced burnt piece of meat. Another time I had the chicken which I thought was an overpriced slimy piece of chicken. I would rather go to the Chart House and have Prime Rib!
Barclay Prime Barclay Prime is a fabulous restaurant, especially if someone else is paying because it is very very expensive. Everything is ala carte. I love the wedge salad, with blue cheese and lump crab meat. The decor is cute- like a mod library. You can't go wrong here, even if you don't like meat.
One of my favorites. Barclay Prime is one of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. The sliders for an appetizer are really good. Salmon is incredible and so is their filet. Often booked up in advance. Try to make reservations. One odd thing that may freak you out the first time. The bathroom is huge but it is unisex. You do a double-take when you first enter thinking you walked in the wrong one.
what a dissappointment – oy vay - my father said don't bother, but I had to try it, especially since we had reservations at Table 31 rthe next week. Dad was right. (I just had a great time at Table 31 by the way.) So, I thought I shoud write this. First, I must say, the service was great. I was with a tried & true wine connoisseur & she said the wine list was boring & the usual (same as capital). I thought the cabernet was good. The the appetizers were boring and unfortunately tasteless - I wished they were good, I was payin... read more
Everything is top notch. – This is my anniversary dinner place, and I look forward to it every year. Yes, you will spend a lot of money here, but it is worth it. The place is decorated beautifully, and there's not a bad seat in the whole dining room. I have always gone early on Saturday evenings before the dinner rush, but always make reservations anyway. It has none of the retro-kitsch-tongue in cheek-ness of the other Steven Starr's I have been to- it's just very, very good., and classy. Pricing on the steaks alone is reas... read more
