Through an alleyway and up some steps, one will be transported to something of a different era. The Back Room boasts a big mirrored bar, chandeliers and large scandalous paintings. The old, wooden, dimly-lit space includes bouncy barstools and very comfortable and inviting lounge spaces for large parties, if you can get them. Prohibition-esque booze is served in tea cups. Hey, c'mon, it's a speakeasy! Nevertheless, the Back Room is worth a visit to bring out your inner flapper.

One of the best bars in the city – Now this is literally one the best bars in New York City... the friendliest staff, great decor, nice crowds. Get use to the grey goose in tea cups and don't even attempt to enter the back room, because De Niro needs to drink in peace.
Awesome time – Great looking room, great ambiance, terrific attention to detail. Friendly staff from the doorpersons to the waitresses. Just an awesome vibe all the way around.....I'll be back again with friends. Thanks for making my special night a wonderful night.
Best spot in NY – This is my favorite spot in the city. Just like NY Magazine said in their "best of the best issue". I love their 25 and over weekend policy. Its the only spot I'll go out to on the weekend. My friends from my agency (I am a runway model) like the eclectic crowd especially during the week. Better than Expected – My friend was hosting her birthday here and, after reading the polarizing reviews, I was very hesitant about going... especially when my friend e-mailed us enough code phrases to use at the door to make me extremely nervous. Quiet Calm Cool Scene – I was piqued by the twenty-somethings responses/reviews of this fantastic spot.....you know, if you felt out of place...you probably were! Period decor, comfortable conversation levels, call ahead, bring a date and keep the speakeasy-vibe rolling along...I love it.
Coolest Scene of 2006 – There is nothing like this spot in the up and coming LES. Although not as in the know as it once was, this place maintains its charm and quirkiness.
Laughable bordering on pathetic – The space is sort of cool, but just because they put a different name on the door does not for coolness make. It is bordering on lame and in a way reminded me of Chumley's. It's got this 'exclusive' door policy, but then is packed with the bridge and tunnel crowd. Have fun and by fun I mean a kick in the stones – Got there Sat. night with 3 guys, two girls. Bouncer would only let two of the guys in. Ok, one of the dudes was going to go home anyways, not that big a deal, but I've NEVER seen a door policy like that. The guys in front of us were denied and when they complained, they were physically threatened by the bouncer "You wanna get hurt" were his exact words. Great Place – I dont know what everyone is complaining about. I went last thursday and had a great time. Everyone was friendly, from the waitstaff, bartenders and esp. the manager. Bartenders made great drinks and even made suggestions .. . Maybe it wasn't the place, maybe it was your attitude.
