About this business

Baba means granny in Russian, and this restaurant—named after the fairy tale witch characterized in an Emerson, Lake and Palmer song—has been a fixture among the art galleries, antique stores and second-hand shops in the Montrose area since the early 1970s. The menu features contemporary cuisine ranging from healthy California-style salads, sandwiches and sprouts to burgers, rib eye steaks, pastas and a spicy, old-fashioned Southern gumbo.

great fruit – I went there for lunch wtih 6 people. As soon as I walked into the restaurant, I knew that I had to get the salmon pasta special of the day with fruit. I was not disappointed. The meal was excellent and they have the freshest fruit I've ever had. The service could be a little better. My portion was only $10 and I will definitely be back.

Never get tired of it! – The folks at Baba Yega's are always ready to make you feel at home. The staff is friendly, the food is savory. Anyone can find something to eat, whether you like burgers, are vegetarian, want low-carb or enjoy salads. My favorite is the Shrimp and Avocado Salad with the Sundried Tomato Vinagrette dressing. Delicious! My partner and I visit at least once every week. It's great to have a mixed crowd and see people enjoying themselves!

Good place for a group meeting! – The back deck is a very pleasant place for a group of people to get together and be able to hear a conversation. Get one of the round tables on the back deck for 6-8 people. The food is also good, not expensive, and the menu offers something for everybody. Also, they don't rush you out of there.

Great Place.. Hit and Miss service.. – I love Baba Yega, but I can see why people would complain about the service - sometimes you'll get a sweet waitress who really does need that tip and other times a rude old queen who couldn't care less. The food is good and the portions are large, I tend to order the lox plate - fairly decent quality salmon, good bread and lots of veggies. The sandwiches are great too. Although I do think they're a little overpriced sometimes. The atmosphere is really nice, around back with the water fe... read more

Awesome place – My wife and I chose Baba Yega's to get married at. We were married in the garden three years ago. I have never met a nicer group of people. I love the food. Strangely enough, they have the best queso in town..it rocks. Can I recommend the Buffalo (or is it Turkey..I can never keep it straight) Burger with the Chipotle Mayo.. The Chipotle Mayo is also great on Fries and Baba's are some of the best I've ever had. Brunch is great, but get there early because Baba's is incredibly popular

Scrumptious brunch – The Sunday brunch is scrumptious, inexpensive and the atmosphere is relaxing. Be sure to get there early and not hungry because by the time they seat you, you'll be starving!

Excellent Brunch! – Fresh fruit! Great omelettes. Excellent waffles. The entire brunch was outstanding and worth the time. Very relaxing waterfall out back to unwind after eating such a lovely meal.

Lunching heaven – Baba Yega is a great place to eat, no matter when you go. But lunchtime brings out its best qualities. The porch area that's simultaneously inside/outside is the best seat in the house. Though all the healthy choices are fabulous, my favorite is their french fries served with a bacon cheeseburger. The cooks don't scrimp on ingredients... always the best of the best are served.

Zen you can eat. – This garden is the best for outdoor eating in town and if you like to people watch the patio out front works too.
