I've been looking for my go-to salon in NYC, and I've found it! Shampoo Avenue B offers great services (including customer service, with student discounts and coupons offered regularly) at an affordable rate. Aut really listened when I told her about my hair woes, and she gave me a cut perfectly suited to my needs. I will be going back soon!

I first heard about this place from Yelp and Refinery29 - the latter of which had chosen this place as "Most Affordable Cut and Color" in its "Best Beauty Destinations in NYC" feature. I purchased an awesome shampoo + cut/style deal on Lifebooker to see for myself. (Check Lifebooker if you're a first-time customer: They regularly feature great deals for this place.) Shampoo Avenue B is my favorite!!! I've been going there for 2 years and I love everyone who works there. I've had appointments with Aut, Violet (who no longer works there but works for American Idol), Emily and Jen. They have all been so great and kind, very understanding and always taking the time to find out exactly what I want. My hair always looks fabulous and they actually all have taught me great techniques to maintain my hair and keep it healthier and stronger. I came here for a cut from a friend's recommendation, but didn't know what stylist to see. When I called the salon, they recommended Jen, and I am SO happy with the cut I got - I'm not sure I've ever been that satisfied before. I told her what I wanted and she was able to give me exactly that, and in a style where I wouldn't have to worry about styling it everyday. Absolutely love this place! For the first time in a loooonnnngggg time I found someone that actually gave me the look I was going for. Jessica was amazing!!! So attentive and professional! The other staff members are very friendly and nice; everyone makes you feel right at home! Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely continue to go back! I really love this place. I have not been to the new location yet, but from the outside, it looks like a real upgrade. I am excited to try it. This is the only place i go for haircuts because of the location and how I feel when i leave. Every time I walk out of the salon, I feel as though the stylists really listened to what i wanted. If they have suggestions, they make them, sometimes i change my mind, sometimes i don't. But either way, i am glad that they are offering their expertise.
