Regarding Avalon the Albemarle in Washington, DC: Would absolutely NOT recommend living at the Albemarle. I've lived in two separate units in this building, and my experience has been awful in both. Avalon will try to get you to sign onto a lease with great deals (free month of rent, etc.), but will raise rent rates astronomically after the first year of the lease. I've been living in AVA Studio City for about 4 months. I love the community of people and have nothing but great things to say about it, until my room flooded. Twice. First time they tore up my carpet and put my bed in the living room expecting me to sleep there. There was no talk of putting me in a hotel room or anything, just constant promises of it being fixed in 2 days. When those 2 days we're over there was another 2 days and so on. I have lived here for 3 years. This year ALONE we have experienced flooding, failed refrigerator that was replaced (which tore up tile and has never been replaced-just sharp spots left and covered with I don't know what--that turns black and has to be constantly cleaned). The replaced refrigerator then resulted in flooding of walls and floors due to improper installation, bathtub drain stoppers missing for months after repeatedly asking for them to be provided as they were supposed to be. The front desk does not stop people walking into the building. There have been numerous instances of non-residents at the dog run and strangers found wandering the hallways. It's been reported to management, and like almost every other issue in the building, it has not been addressed.
