I stayed at Avalon Acton for a little under 6 months and I had signed a 10-month lease. I want to warn future tenants who may be looking at Avalon as an option. A previous tenant warned me about their practices, but it was too late, I had signed the lease and moved in by that time otherwise I would have considered other options around. We lived in a loft apartment for 2 years in the Avalon community in Stratford, CT and for the price of rent (mind you it was $2,500!) we had SO MANY PROBLEMS! First of all, they allow ANY AND ALL people into the pool area and gym, with kids swinging from the equipment and having glass bottles broken by the pool to the point it was closed for two weeks in the summer! My service dog of 13 years died because the elevator at Avalon West Chelsea closed on him and he suffered horrific injuries. The building refuses to take any responsibility for the faulty sensors and issues with the elevators and continues to deflect any responsibility. They refuse to share the elevator footage of the incident even though they say they have nothing to hide. Let's start off by saying that I have been looking to move into an Avalon community for 2 years, and finally I decided to. Unfortunately for me it has been nothing near what I was told or imagined. After moving into a brand new unit on the first of this month, I have already had major issues with the unit. I would think for as much as I am paying a month that they would have checked these things before the move in. This is luxury living? Trash constantly over flowing, leaks/open trenches on the property for over a year, multiple car breaks-ins and theft, exterior gates broken for weeks at a time, expired elevator permits & days to fix them if out of order, roaches in the dirty pool area, annual rent increases for absolutely nothing, noisy, the only tenant improvements are those made to the exterior to attract more renters.

Was charged “accelerated rent” for doing a courtesy and turning the keys in a few days earlier then the lease date. Where as If I had not, and held on to the keys there would be no additional charge. At the time of checking out I was not told of additional penalty’s, if I was I would have turned over the unit on end of lease date. Customer Care was useless in resolving the matter, and contacted the leasing office and they explained that it would only have been a “courtesy” if I were told I would be charged accelerated rent. ... read more

Terrible service, over priced, can't even manage to figure out package delivery. I've had multiple packages get stolen from inside the building or lost. Recently a large box of steaks went to waste after our Christmas present got lost in the Avalon San Bruno.

DON'T LIVE HERE.... I lived in the Avalon at the Hunt Valley Towne Centre for a little over 2 years. I was the first resident to move into my unit as it was a new building. It was beautiful but cheaply built and many items broke or needed repair. The staff changes a lot - the turnover is disturbing since no one can follow through with work needed. The residents started out nice but the turnover, there too, was a lot and the replacement residents were filthy. They left trash, poop and other things and just didn't care. The of... read more

This place is a nightmare. We've had to contact emergency maintenance 10 times in the 4 months we have lived here. The apartment above us flooded to ours and we had to vacate for 34 days. I understand accidents happen but the staff in the leasing office has been like talking to a wall. They are filled with nothing but stock "I'm sorry you feel that way" responses and don't make an effort to actually fix the problem or even adequately communicate updates.
