Austins Choice Auto Repair is A RIP OFF...RUN AWAY Run as fast as you can! This place is a joke! Paid for a Full syn oil change and watched them put in reg oil. when i asked them about it they said it was syn oil. what shop has the syn in the gun. the oil tank that the oil can out of even said on the side of it that is was reg 10w30. they still charged me $89.99. and told me to never come back.
Avoid at all cost Based on the previous review of this place, I figured I'll also try the "local and reliable" repair shop since I had recently moved in the neighborhood. My visit started reasonably well. I wanted them to check out the quarter windows, passenger-side door lock and interior lights in my 1998 mini van. Dishonest, Rude, Waste of space DO NOT GO HERE!!!! 2 years ago my check engine light goes on, and they tell me my catalytic converter is out. $1300 later, they "fix" it. So I drive off and my check engine light comes on. I bring it back the next day and he tells me I need to drive it for a whole cycle (about 100 miles) and then bring it back. Don't take your car here! I won't be back. They are located near my apartment, so I tried them for an oil change, and they didn't even check my tire pressure let alone anything else - would have gotten a better deal at Firestone. I tried them again to get my son's car fixed. I was offered a discount, then when I mentioned a charge they didn't include (being an honest person), they tacked on more additional charges, so I ended up paying about 350 instead of 200. BEST SHOP IN TOWN This is the only shop I have ever been to were I got my car fixed and they did not come back and tell me i needed thousands of dollars in repairs. The guy at the front desk was nice and took me out to my car so I could see what I needed. It was one little hose that was leaking and that's what made my check engine light come on. Never Again!!! This place blows!! I had my truck inspected there and I failed. Which there was reasoning for that. I fixed the minor problems and went back to ask about the the rest. The guy there that claims to be manager was cool at first and it explained to me the problem again. I accepted it and started to leave. Local and reliable Although we usually take our car to our favorite mechanic midtown, we took a chance with someone in the neighborhood. We'd used Austin's Choice for our car inspections before and were happy with the attitude and service of the staff. This time we trusted them with an electrical problem. They were prompt, accurate, and surprisingly cheap. They clearly showed us the problem, as well as the associated diagnostics (to see what the problem wasn't). Great Bunch of Guys my check engine light had come on and i took it to a big name shop in pflugerville. they told be it would cost $1195.00. with that much money i told them that i want to shop around. then they tryed to give me 10% off. well i took my car to Austin' Choice Auto.
