Compared to some of the best years, it was a little disappointing. It was windy as usual. Also, the reserve needs more park rangers to patrol the visitors that are TRAMPLING the poppies for photo ops. so disrespectful.
Beautiful breezy day and the poppies were overwhelming too!
Very glad to see the super bloom this year. My 9 year old loved it and the trails were easy. Bring your water and sunblock. No doggies allowed.
Visited on 4/13. Still plenty of blooms on the south and western side. We actually took some great photos 4-5 miles outside of the reserve (I think it was Munz Ranch road), beautiful poppy patches along the roadside up on a hill and no crowd. U can see the reserve in the distance. We visited on a weekday morning, the crowd want too bad but the parking lot was full by 10:30 am. My first time at the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserves was an amazing experience. I will definitely come back again in the future.
