I bought a reel lawn mower in april for $90 and from the get go it did not work properly. I put it in my garage to attempt it a couple months later. I tried to use it and was so fed up I took it into al's to exchange it for a $200 electric mower. Al said he would give me $50 for the mower instead of using the $90 for the upgrade. I told him I'd take my business elsewhere.
STAY AWAY, YOUVE BEEN WARNED, THIS GUY DOENT CARE, HE GETS 80 AN HOUR, AND IS BOOKED WEEKS IN ADVANCE. HE AND HIS WIFE HAVE A "GO SOMEWHERE ELSE ATTITUDE " this place is a nitemare, read all the reviews, i wish i had done just that!. i bought a brand new mower from home depot for a about 200$ ,a lawnboy. It lasted half the summer, and i brought it in, they promised it to me in 2 weeks, so in 2 weeks i call to see if its ready, and they say they havnt looked at it, so, 2 weeks after that, it cost me 150 to repair. a month alt... read more
I've brought mowers in several times, and they don't seem to have been fixed up very well, (loose pull rope for instance)
Late, over priced, incompetent. – Don't waste your time at Al's Mower. Over priced, didn't deliver when promised, just plain lied about the 'tune up'. Couldn't reach them by phone repeatedly, and when I did, they put me on hold and never answered. I have read the reviews about people coming back every year for 10 years and just have to note that if they fixed it right, you wouldn't be back at all! Don't waste your time with this business! It got one star because it was required not because it was deserved!
Excellent equipment repair – I've had Al's repair my lawn equipment for over 10 years and they are outstanding! They've always fixed everything correctly the 1st time. Be aware, just like any other mower shop that they are extremely busy during the season and yes there will be probably be a wait in the shop and to get your gear repaired.
Don't Waste Your Time – Waiting more than 15 minutes to get help, Al was closing a deal with a customer buying a used lawn mower. The customer told an off color ethnic joke that Al laughed about in response. Really? Disgusted, I left without being helped. Al's is not the kind of business I want to deal with. I went to Stark Street Lawn and Garden on 118th and Stark where I received prompt, excellent, professional service. Ignore the one star as I don't think Al's even deserves that much of a rating.
Longtime Customer of Al's Since mid 70's – I have always been happy with the Al's provides and the way they do business. I have no idea what other shops are like beause the only place I would go is Al's.
Grade A Repairs and Parts Worth a Visit – When I formerly lived in the portland area there was only one mower shop I would visit. Al's is that place, they have great service and prices that are below some of the other shops in town. I had my mower serviced there several times over the years and every time my mower came back with a breath of new life. Nice Selection of chainsaws – I had been after a husqvarna saw for a long time. After searching town for one all I could find were stihls, i checked online and apparently al's mower carried them. I headed over and checked out what they had. They had most models of husqvarna available. After testing out a few I settled on a 455. The saw is excellent. It's also nice because instead of them giving you a new saw in a box they have them setup and they service it for you so you know it will run fine before you get home. I'm very p... read more
