The Allegheny Cemetery, founded in 1844 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, offers guided tours through its 300 acres (121.4 hectares). With 120,000 grave-sites, the cemetery is one of the largest and oldest in the country. Visitors can trace the devastating effects of influenza and coal mining disasters, as well as find the history of local families. One of our favorites. This place is full of history, amazing mausoleums, hauntingly beautiful statues and some of the most incredible workmanship you will find. Great for photographers, history buffs and people that love unique and peaceful places to get some exercise.
