Watched the video several times. Heading on trip in two days. Have a 2017 Ford Transit Connect that is a low profile vehicle. We attempted to practice yesterday but the underside of the car (plastic) started to scrape the tow dolly tire stop. Not good I thought. Told my wife we will have to switch cars to our 2007 Chevy Uplander (which we practiced loading and it fit). She was not happy. We've used ours on over 5,500 miles across the US and it beautifully towed our Camry. The best feature, besides the piece of mind from hydraulic disk brakes is it's light weight of 350 pounds which allowed me to easily detach and move it around or under the RV at smaller campsites we frequently saw in state and national parks. Still looks new two years later.
We have a 40 foot motor home and we did tow our car on an Acme Tow Dolly. On April 15 we were traveling to Clemmons, NC and noticed someone flagging us down. We stopped, pulled over and when we got out of the motor home we realized that the dolly was on fire. Although we tried to extinguish the fire we were unsuccessful and the car also caught on fire. Purchased our Hydraulic Disc Brake Dolly in February. Since we live in the Kernersville area we went to pick up the dolly at the factory. Our experience from the initial contact with the company through our first real road trip has been excellent. Questions were answered right away and service at pickup was thorough and paced at a speed where videos could be made if necessary. Friendly staff with great patience. Just purchased the tow dooly after doing a lot of research and hope it will be trouble free as stated in 99% of the comments towards the company. I just hope my Honda Accord will not have the same trouble as stated by Mitch Terrusa on 9/16/2016. Will keep my fingers crossed and give an update after delivery.
I'm afraid I can only give this product a 3. Maybe a 4 if I'm being generous. The tow dolly itself is well made and aside some some critical positioning of the toad on the dolly seems to work well. However.......During one of my rest stops I went to check tire pressures and the schrader valve on one of the dolly wheels got stuck open and I lost all my air. I have not bought a Tow Dolly yet. I've found the Acme Tow Dolly however to be my chose after my extensive research of Towing my car, (2 wheels off the ground). After I buy, (a new factory approved car that can be towed with a towing product without voiding the factory warranty, I will most likely buy an Acme Tow Dolly.
