AARP NO LONGER ALLOWS MEMBERS TO WRITE A COMPLAINT ON THEIR WEBSITE. Under the new leadership the rumours have been that AARP is only interested in making money now instead of offering savings to their members. I just received my first renewal for my car insurance through the Hartford. My monthly payments went up from $45.99 to $57. I don't remember when was the last time I filed a single claim with any insurance company. I receive the "safe driver award" from the Secretary of State in Illinois every time I renew my license.... read more

I enrolled in AARP Medicare Complete thru United Health Care. Upon getting my enrollment material they advised me I would have to pay addition monies then was quoted because I did not have perscription coverage for a few years. I ask what the penalty would be and not of the 5 agents was able to tell me. I checked with Social Security they advised there was a simple formula all insurance carriers had access. I dis-enrolled from United Heath Care. AARP it seems will put their name on most anything, as long as the compensation ... read more

**** ***** **** ******* ********** ***** 4 January 2018 Dear BBB and Attorney General's Office, I have been a supporter of AARP for over 10 years. That support has quickly changed to anger and disgust since trying to help my elderly parents sort out multiple payments to AARP and its Foundation. For an organization that's primary goal is senior advocacy, their practice of multiple renewal notices is the antithesis of this goal. During only the 2017 calendar year, my parents, **** *** ******* ********, paid their $16 membershi... read more

I just spoke with a very rude customer service representative at AARP as I was trying to make a payment on behalf of my mom. She invoked HIPAA regarding why she could neither accept payment nor get me to a tech support person who could help answer why the www.aarpmedicare.com site was freezing as I was trying to access my mom's account. HIPAA protects against the release of confidential information, which I was not seeking. Not only did the woman not understand this, but she was rude and ultimately terminated the phone call ... read more

The life insurance offered on the AARP website from New York Life is the scam to be aware of. They are preying on elders happily taking the monthly payments with the hope of never paying out the policy. After my mother died they said they'd send the insurance check right away, which later turned into 7-10 days, which turned into 7-10 business days. That turned into "You should have received that by now, you should have contacted us sooner." "It must have been lost in the mail, we'll put a stop on that and issue another check... read more

We have had AARP long term care insurance provided by MetLife for 15-20 years and understood going in that each year we would be provided with an opportunity to increase our coverage to cover increased costs and our premium would go up accordingly but also felt we would not see general rate increases. Until now that is how it worked but this month we received a notice that they intend to raise the rated by 24% (10% immediately, 10% in a year and 1.75 % in 2 years. They was no prior notice just a blunt take it of leave in not... read more

With all the negative reviews that C******r C******* has, it might be something for AARP to consider not advertising for them. I like AARP, but I think that reflects badly on them if they promote a company that has such negative issues. I want to give AARP a 5 star, but being associated with a problem company such as C****** Cellular brings my rating down.

It looks as if others have complained about similar things regarding AARP that I (on behalf of my elderly mother) have experienced. My mother renewed her AARP dues recently and received her "membership card." Because she gets inundated with mailings from AARP, soon after she received her card, she received a mailing, asking her to return the attached Statement with her dues. She was very confused and ended up sending an additional check to AARP. I have HAD it with business dealings such as this. "Back in the day," we didn't ... read more
