I sat in the mid to upper 90's degree heat with the heat index around 110 yesterday for 4 1/2 hours [only 4 hours and 10 minutes from 2:51 until 7 pm for the time from when I called AARP Roadside to the Tow truck arrival] waiting for a tow truck to show up to tow my rental car. The Driver that finally showed up was very nice. The last I heard from AARP Roadside was at 5 pm when the truck was originally supposed to be there, NOTHING after that. WHY do they tell me that they will stay in contact until my truck arrived when I s... read more

AARP is a rip off. They profess to protect their membership, but when I tried to settle a claim for their Allstate Roadside Assistance, they failed miserably. They did NOT even try to hear my voice nor did they ever support one of their members who needed their assistance. They kept transferring me to a call center located in India. Several agents stated they would expedite my claim - which NEVER happened. AARP DOES NOT HAVE THEIR MEMBERS BACKS. AARP does not provide any protection!!!!. Their membership is a joke.

My comments are only about the subscription renewal tactics AARP employs. Throughout the year I receive multiple (5+) Renewal Statements with Membership Cards. I know when I first signed up - it was just after my 50th birthday, as I assume most people did. Why then would I need that many reminders starting at 6 months prior? What is the cost and resources wasted on such activities? Are our older seniors being "tricked" into paying earlier and earlier? These resources can be put to much better use. I called and asked Customer... read more

I e-mailed AARP to ask a question about a particular item in their Rewards program. The response I received was generic information about their Rewards program--not an answer to my specific question. I replied, saying that their "customer service" was terrible, and I again received a generic e-mail as their response. I will NOT be renewing my membership.

AARP is a ripoff. They say they have discounts on everything but no they do not. Its all false. Just go to their page. They are racking up on memberships for no reason. For what. They don't give you nothing at all. The only reason i have it is because i have their life insurance . THey talk about birthday presents and discounts on meds and medicare part d and dental. Nope go check it out. Higher than anywhere. Its just a ripoff to get elderly peoples money. I promise i have had them for 5 years and haven't gotten one dang th... read more

AARP harasses members with multiple mailings seven months before they are due, confusing senior citizens and I am sure raking in thousands of extra dollars.

I just read an article about AARP and their ridiculous membership mailings. I thought I was the only one who got so many. This company is awful. I have asked them to take my name off their mailing lists SO MANY times. I find all of their advertising to be deceptive. Especially for their secondary insurance plans.

Early this month I redeemed some of my AARP Rewards for Good points to get a coupon for a discount at Fred's South County Auto Repair in Affton which was offered on the AARP website. When I took my car in, the owner told me that the coupon hadn't been good for years. It seems the previous owner approved the coupon, but despite the new owner's requests, AARP had never removed the coupon from the website. As I have done a lot of business with him in the past, he gave me the discount anyway. I sent an email to AARP customer se... read more
