Overall, I'm satisfied with AARP. But I booked a package trip to and from Denver through AARP Expedia, and I do NOT recommend using this, especially if you are an inexperienced traveler, which I am. First problem - I was not assigned a seat on the plane. I didn't get a seat assignment until all the groups had boarded and American Airlines was announcing, repeatedly, that they needed 3 volunteers to go on the next flight, 8 hours later. Finally, about 5 minutes before they closed the doors, I was allowed to board the plane. T... read more
Business response:
I would like to apologize for your booking experience through the AARP Travel Center powered by Expedia. As AARP is not the travel provider, we contacted a dedicated team with Expedia for insight into your experience and issues. Expedia advised us that the airfare booked was Basic Economy and did not include seat selection. Expedia explained that with this selection, a seat is guaranteed but a seat number is assigned by the airline and may be done at check in. This is up to the guidelines of the airline directly. I am sorry ... read more
I am a AARP member so it makes sense to join it's road side assistance program. Because AARP claims it looks out for seniors so I never doubt the programs's efficiency. I experienced the horrible experience few days ago, that made me withdraw immediately from the program, I had a flat tire at around 12:30 noon in 287 North in a hot, steamy day, my immediate reaction was to call AARP roadside assistance. I was told the towing service will be there in about an hour, I was happy with that. About 20 minutes later, AARP represent... read more
Very unhappy with the roadside assistance program. They sent me a renewal notice stating I was up for renewal and my CC would be charged. I called and told them when I tried to sign in to my account online it said my account couldn’t be found, so I assumed I didn’t have coverage. When I tried to collect on a previous tow, I was told that I didn’t request preauthorization. I explained if they would have sent me a card or email notifying me that my membership had previously been renewed, I would have called ahead of time. Tryi... read more
Do not have a problem with AARP specifically but I do have a problem with the auto insurance they offer through The Hartford. I realize that it is an outside vendor. I called for a quote and received one that was quite good. Asked the operator to send a quote via email. Said that I would contact them after I discussed it with my husband. The operator was a bit pushy after that but I received the email quote. After that I contacted them a week later saying I was very interested. The operator was at first pleasant but then bec... read more

I have asked to stop getting mail from them by requesting several times on their website and by e-mail. It won't stop. They have no respect for peoples privacy.
Business response:
AARP provides members and non-members alike the ability to control communication they receive from the organization and our affiliated service providers. I do see that previous suppressions were processed on your name and address. I will contact you personally to address this concern. Thank you.

If I could give this company a negative 20 star rating I would! They only got a 1 star rating because this website forces you to choose one. This company is the absolute worst!!! I have been trying since February 28, 2019 to get my money back from them for a tow truck I never used. We called for the tow because my car would not start. When the tow truck driver arrived, the car started right up. We immediately called them to cancel the tow. They claimed that the payment could not be cancelled or reversed, but rather I would h... read more

Business response:
Ms. OBrien --- Many thanks for your kind words and continued support. Feedback, from members and non-members alike, enables us to better serve our more than 38 million AARP members --- and all those 50-plus. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to comment.!
We have 5 year membership, yet they keep sending us renewal bills. Almost feel like they are preying on old people who can't remember when they paid the last bill. AARP need to change their mailing system! So many people are complaining to them and online, yet nothing has been done. BBB or Consumer Protection Agency should be involved to make sure that elderly consumers are protected.
Business response:
Ms. Lee - We appreciate your membership and have arranged for your to receive limited renewal notifications. Some membership prefer to receive early notices (some of which include special membership rates or premium offers). Others, prefer one notice just before their membership is about to expire --- which is what you will now receive. Please be assured that it is AARP policy to automatically refund any more than 2 advance payments made on a membership account. Thank you for your continued support.
