Scarred for Life – This was the WORST experience ever. I went to Mandy, the owner of the salon, and therefore an expert right? She explained she would color my hair a rich chocolate color with caramel highlights. I was sold. Sounded delicious...until the process was done, my hair was dry, and she said, "oh, well, it turned out a bit lighter than I thought." Um. Yeah. I looked like a skunk. It is never our intention to ignore a phone call when a client is dissatisfied with their experience, as I am always more then happy to adjust color after the process has been completed. Nickol is the best colorist in Portland – I've been to a-lot of Salons in Portland to say the least and have had some alright hair color. Finally decided to get some recommends and then finally go to a dedicated colorist.....will never go to someone who both cuts and colors again. After going to Nickol for a few months now realize I really only had so-so results before. clueless in portland – thsi is the third time i have gone and had a totally different colorist, I am either stupid or too nice. Once again the color came out horrible, I am embarrassed to go out, the cut is even worst, i used to be hip now I look like a librarian, I am so upset then they charged me $130 for the damage they did to my hair. I will not name names, but my experience with 4 different people there has been horrible.AVOID!!!!
NOT IMPRESSED – i have been referred to salon 77 by a co-worker and have given it 2 tries. i went to one stylist the first time, and while i was happy with my hair cut and color, she hardly talked to me and didn't seem interested at all in making me a return customer. i went in one more time and requested Mandy b/c i have read good reviews about her on citysearch. not only am i not happy with my cut (which is too short and not at all what i asked for), i have to agree w/ the review just below me... she seemed so disintereste... read more

Okay haircut, so so service – I chose this salon after reading rave reviews. The salon is in a nice location in the Pearl district, and I got a good feeling when I walked in. I had selected Mandy (the co-owner), but after being sat down to have my hair cut, she seemed totally disinterested in what she was doing. Not too impressed . . . – Based on the great reviews for the is salon, I booked an appointment with the owner. I found her to be unfriendly, and harsh on my head (pulling my hair). She wasn't very talkative, and didn't really give me the hair color, or cut, I had to described to her. I thought . . maybe she is just concentrating really hard, but when I asked her questions about what she was doing, she blew me off. This is the PLACE to BE!!! – You should definatly try 77 if you haven't already... they are the best in town by FAR! Right in the heart of the Pearl District.. Do yourself a favor!!!
Nickol offers a high quality service. – I had an unfortunate experience getting my hair done at a salon (not to be named) in the Portland area. I'll admit, the cut was awesome... but the gentleman helping me wouldn't listen to my preferences on color and placement of the color. My highlights turned out absolutely horrific!! They were streaky and orange, like the tail of a tiger or something.. some were hardly even visible at all.. Great conversation and hair cut! – I was recommended by a friend to Rosie- and let me tell you, I think I've finally found a hairstylist I can go back to! Not only was she super friendly, but trust her to do what she wanted to my hair. I went in knowing that I wanted it a bit shorter, thinned out, and more stylish (my hair is shoulder length brown).
