Very disappointed – I used to go to 5 & 8 on a regular basis and even got take out. My son his family and I went on Sunday November 1, 2009. We ordered salad which was mostly brown and on the verge of spoiling, the brosted chicken that I went for was not near as good as it used to be. My son had the chicken strips that were so hard and over cooked he couldn't eat them. I do not think I will ever return. I have also heard this lately from several other people.
Most amazing burger ever, like a little piece of heaven in my mouth! – I have been wanting to go here forever and never did, till last Saturday. Was there when it opened, which I'm glad I was because this place gets full quick. I had just a basic cheeseburger and OMG - it was amazing! I can't wait to go back and try the garlic or pizza burger - YUMMY! And our server Katie was amazing and one of the best server's I've ever had, or at least in a long time :) I would recommend this to anyone. I can't wait to go back!
Cheap and good – Good burger, really good onion rings (i dip in ranch). The juicy lucy is not nearly as good as the Nook, in St. Paul, but it's good, none-the-less!! I know there is also on in Maplehood and Champlain also.
Great food, Great Staff, God Offal Regulars – Great food. Great staff. God offal regulars! I've been there 3 times, each visit was a lesson in how not to run a restaurant. Same group of people glued to the bar every time i was there. They were loud and rude not only to the staff, but also to the customers. I can still hear the red head's voice echoing around in my head. Love the amosphere – My boyfriend and I decided to try the two places i town know for JUICY LUCY's and I was truly disappointed in the 5-8 Club's. It might be great to some customers. But what I was disappointed with was the burger was soooo dry!! BUt I loved that yo can choose different cheeses in the Juicy Lucy. Thats a great thing!!!! gotta love pepperjack!!! I love the fact that our bill was not even $20!!!! It was great!!! I liked it for its variety but the burger was kind of dry!!! A juuicy lucy dry???
Good burgers – My favorite thing about 5-8 is their burger selection. It's not just the juicy Lucy anymore. If you don't want a burger, get yourself a "hangover" pork sandwich or a half chicken meal. There's something for everyone as long as you're ready to eat. They have TVs in the dining room, so you can catch the game or even Jeopardy. Buy some pull-tabs while you're there. Laid-back atmosphere, decent service, inexpensive food, always family-friendly because the bar area is fully separated from the dining room.
Great food – Went to the 5-8 yesterday, they had one of the best burgers I've ever had. Service was great as was the patio. On the back of the menu there's a story about the history of the restaurant/bar which was very cool. The prices are excellent and it is also kid friendly. I will be frequenting this fine establishment much more in the future. Yum Yum!!!
great food!!!!! BAD service!! – I love going to the 5 8. We have gone there sense we were kids:) I SO wish that they would do something about the grumpy wait staff that has worked there to long. We did however go in a month ago and saw a couple new FRIENDLY faces:) You would not want to cast new peeps away with rude staff. I am glad to see the change:)
Great Juicy Lucys – They have very good Juicy Lucy's which are second only to Matt's Bar. The buffalo popcorn chicken with bleu cheese is a great appetizer to start with and the fries are very good as well. This is a great dive bar with a very interesting history in bootlegging. I've had great service every time I've been there. I've had to wait a few times to be seated during supper but not too long.
